  1. When you get a new batch done and you want to try them out, let me know. Haven't been to the range in a while. Plus have 2 new guns I need to try out! Good luck resolving the problem.
  2. For anyone looking for a well priced 1911. Seems like a very good price....plus 200 rounds of ammo: http://www.cdnnsports.com/too-cheap/para-ordnance-1911-45acp-5-sts-expert-fo-frt-2-8rd.html#.U_oHpaOHvKc
  3. Wow. Sounds like quite a few people from the forum will be there on 9/7! We should schedule a Shotgun Shoot Out!
  4. Sorry to hear about your problem. One good thing you have going for you is Ruger's reputation for taking care of customers and making things right. Let us know what they say the problem was and if you're happy with their fix / service. GP100 was my first gun purchased little over a year ago. Have picked up 3 more since then. Still really enjoy shooting the GP100. Have prob put at least 1k rounds through without a single problem. Hopefully you get your's back soon. Hope you enjoy your's as much as I have mine.
  5. Young lady from NJ brought a few pork roll, egg and cheese sandwhiches into our Times Square office after a bunch of us went out for drinks the night before. There were a few people who had never had pork roll before. It was interesting watching them eat it. At first they were a little apprehensive b/c they had never heard of or seen pork roll. All the Jersey natives were intently watching them. They enjoyed enjoyed it and said they would def order again when given the opportunity.
  6. Pork roll is the generic name. Taylor Ham is a particular produc/brand. What if you go into a deli/bagel shop and ask for Taylor Ham and they only have "Brand X Pork Roll"? Are you turning around and walking out? I generally just say pork roll. When I was young we used to have it for dinner. There was an episode of (original) Star Trek that had these parasites that flew down and attacked people. The parasites kind of looked like pork roll. Freaked me out!
  7. By offering reduced membership fee for life time status in NRA it provides people the opportunity to spread their limited financial resources to more local organizations. Try looking at it that way.
  8. I think they call it Inox. Monmouth Arms had one not too long ago. If they aren't too far from you give Steve a call to inquire. The CZ Rami is suppossed to be a very good small gun. It may be a little smaller than you are looking for though. The full size 75B and SP01s are both very nice. For full size guns they are very ergonomic and fit my smaller sized hands very well. Monmouth Arms also sells those. They reduce the mag capacity to 15 rounds to make NJ legal. Good luck!
  9. By that statement alone I can tell you are an intelligent person with distinguished tastes. But why stop at just one CZ? But seriously, how about a midsized Berretta based on the 92FS platform. Classic gun. Def on my own buy lists.
  10. Like Vlad G said....It sounds like it's b/c you enjoy SHOOTING and don't care as much about how you look doing it. In our sport/hobby you NEED a gun and you NEED bullets. Everything else is secondary as far as what you NEED. You should def have eye & ear protection as well but that cost is nominal so it isn't even thought about. Spending that $200 on a case (or anything else) is going to set you back/take away from your shooting time. Unless you have more money than you know what to do with this is prob why you and many others "struggle" with spending money on things we don't really need to enjoy our sport/hobby. I carry my guns and gear in a Jamesons Whiskey gym/tote bag. My wife bought it while on vacation and it was just sitting around collecting dust. It's sturdy and well made. It does what I need it to do. For now my AR gets taken apart and wrapped in a towel so the neighbors don't freak out when I take it out to the car trunk. It all comes down to allocating limited resources (time & money) with what makes you happy. Good luck.
  11. Less than what? The MSRP? I would certainly hope so. There are several FFLs listed though who are selling at much less than MSRP. One has already commented that he could sell for even less than what is listed on Davidson's if one isn't concerned about Davidaon's lifetime warranty. Rugers already come with a pretty good warranty. May be for life if original buyer....not positive about that though. As far as why anyone would buy this 38 Special as oppossed to a 357. Some peiple may never want to shoot 357 rounds, so why purchase one. For what sounds like $500-$550ish one is getting a rugid, reliable and well made revolver that will outlast anyone on this forum. Sounds like a good deal to me.
  12. Or if you don't have children, what was passed on to you that you value/has helped you in life. NOTHING MATERIALISTIC. What advice/words of wisdom have helped guide you or do you hope to impart to your children? 1. #1 for me is that money isn't the "be all/end all in life". Yes it is important to be educated and/or hard working and self sufficient. One thing money will not do though is make you happy. Be true to yourself, respect yourself and others and do your best to live a life that makes you happy. I'll start it off with that......
  13. While not a smoking hot deal still not a bad price. If you never intend to shoot 357 this may interest you. Rugged, reliable and well made the Ruger GP100 in 38 Special iwould make an excellent starter gun for someone new to firearms or for someone looking for something other than a 22 to start their newbie friends on when you take them to the range. The weight soaks up a great deal of the recoil. Well balanced in the hand. Classic revolver. http://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx?item=1728&scode=itemID&utm_source=icontact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_specials I believe Davidsons Guns also come with a lifetime guarantee. You'll probably never need it with this gun but it's there just in case. Don't know how much things have changed in the year since I purchased mine (in 357) but I couldn't locate a GP100 with a 4 inch barrel in stainless finish last year any where for quite a while.
  14. Fixxed. They are def right angled angels. Lefty angels would never mark down ammo for the masses.
  15. Can't believe some one actually wrote in the comments that a collection should be taken to raise money to help the police apprehend those responible. There already is a collection.....it's called taxes.
  16. Because gun fairies just doesn't sound right.......
  17. Signed up for the 9/7 class at Clinton/Hampton. HBecwithFn7 - did you take the class yet? How was the field walk? Worth it or should I pay the $25 to do it online and skip it? I intend to only go with an experienced hunter(s) my first few hunts. So all the study material is online. Read it, watch it, etc and complete the workbook. Bring work book with you and take test and show you know how to use a shotgun. After you pass everything what happens? They give you a certificate and you take certificate to a designated place/retailer to purchase license?
  18. No, the gun angels descended on the store and performed a holy miracle! Until the evil libs discovered ammo was being sold at such a discounted price that they (for the childrens sake) raised the price. Really? Did you just ask that?

    New CZ

Your first CZ or do you have others? I have a 75B & P01. Great guns that many people have never heard of!
  20. There is a thread that discusses how to set set up your NRA account settings. Perhaps you can set your account up so you are not contacted? That is a good deal for Lifetime Member. If anyone knows the thread I'm talking about please link it.
  21. Purchased first firearm (Ruger GP100) last year. Intended to join the NRA at that time but never got around to it. Purchased a few more firearms in the last year. During the past year I have become acutely more aware of firearm related news stories and how, for the most part, firearm owners are being horrible maligned (especially in NJ). Also had an experience this weekend of local police department seeming to make it more difficult for a person to apply for a FID than it already is. For these, and many other common reasons for joining, I finally said to myself, "I can't put this off any longer." $25 for a year membership is nothing compared to what one typically spends during a day at the range. I highly encourage anyone else how "hasn't gotten around to it" to please log on and spend the 10 minutes (or less) to join. Here's the link. If your like me and haven't done so yet, please join: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp
  22. Appointment made. My friend is shocked they are requesting this extra step.

    S&W SD9 VE

Try a CZ 75 or a CZ P01. They are more expensive than SD 9VE but CZs are about the most ergonomic guns around. The P01 comes with a decocker but I believe can be converted to a safety. Ask yourself this though. If you ever have a to rely on your handgun in a stressfull life or death situation, do you really want to worry about a safety? Your mind is the only safety you should always relly on. If you follow the four safety rules of firearms, your safe. RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY Rule III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET I have both the CZ 75 and P01. I shoot at Easton Game and Fish and at Heritage Guild in Easton. If you would like to check them out some time, let me know. Good luck with your search. Depending on how experienced / comfortable with handguns your wife is, she may want to consider a revolver. Shooting 38s through a 357 is very smoothe and low recoiling. Revolvers are also simple to understand and care for. My wife doesn't like semi autos because of the flying brass. My revolver, no problem. She understands that. While revolvers don't have a safety they are an excellent first handgun.
  24. He def couldn't see the ballon. He was preparing to take his 3rd shot when his spotter told him he hit it. A very impressive shot!
