  1. You only pay to cross the Hudson from NJ INTO NYC - not from NYC to NJ - if he's leaving NYC EZ Pass wouldn't record it anyway.
  2. This kid is not going to remember anything about this - do you remember anything from when you were two years old? I think it's around age four that we start developing permanent memories.
  3. THIS^^^^^^^^^^^ And actually......with the on line NICS system they could just get rid of the permit all together and and just have the dealer enter the gun info into the system at the time of transfer so it would still be "registered" without compromising the people of NJ's "safety" (and would actual improve safety by freeing up the the police to do real police work instead of needless redundant bureaucracy) . But all these ideas would make gun buying easier.......something the anti's just can't have.
  4. They are still available if anyone wants one.........
  5. That's correct, and I do it all the time........but I also target shoot on my property. When the cops occasionally show up, they ask if I'm target shooting, I tell them yes, and they say: "OK, have a nice day" and leave - I live in a very non NJ like part of NJ. In more developed areas of the state the reaction will be different, but you're not breaking any laws.
  6. This morning they were running 15 minutes or so, afternoon was longer.....
  7. I have never seen a permit that had the gun info filled in by the issuing authority, and I've done quite a few exemptions.....................maybe it's a South Jersey thing??????
  8. It's a running joke, but not really a that much of an exaggeration.........
  9. The problem is NJ's online NICS system doesn't have any provision for an alternate ID, there is no way to enter alternate ID forms. Another thing I wonder about is if a resident of another state had a NJ FPID card (with their out of state address on it) would NJ NICS's online system be able to process it?
  10. Federal law requires FFLs to abide by the rules of both the seller's and buyer's states when selling firearms, so a PA dealer cannot sell you a non NJ legal firearm.
  11. Federal law prohibits non licensed persons from buying or selling firearms to other non licensed persons who live in a different state. This does not apply to air, BP or antique guns since they are not firearms under federal law.
  12. The "Substantially Identical" part of the AWB statute was ruled unconstitutionally vague after a mid 90's lawsuit, The court ordered the AG at the time to come up with a definition of what "substantially vague" means and he basically plagiarized the "evil features" list from the (now expired) federal AWB.
  13. Import marks must contain: the country of manufacture, model, caliber and importers name. If any of that is already on the pistol from manufacture is does not need to be reapplied. So as you said, if S&W imported them, they wouldn't need to mark anything on them.
  14. Sarco especially is in a difficult spot, they do not have any dealers licenses in NJ but continue to operate there warehouse in Sterling where they have gun parts (but no firearms). NJ law requires a firearms dealers license to sell gun parts in NJ. Apparently the state is letting Sarco slide on the Sterling warehouse because no business is conducted out of that location, it's only a warehouse, all parts are sent to PA and shipped out from there. I think that fact that Sarco employs 30 or so people there and is the largest employer in Long Hill TWP was the main reason the state didn't shut them down completely, but that could change easily enough. Sarco lost their license in NJ for a number of reasons, one of which was an employee stole around 12 handguns, but there were other issues in addition to that. The state looked at them as careless, the ATF looked at them as a victim of theft by a rouge employee. As far as Walmart.......well they have more money the the state does, they aren't going to get pushed around by NJ. Smaller stores could easily be bankrupted by legal action if the state comes after them, even if they aren't breaking any laws and clear their name. NJ is suing a pizza chain in Florida for copy right infringement because they say there logo is a rip off off the GSP logo. Maybe the PA shops are being a bit paranoid, but I don't think the threat of legal action over high cap mags is just BS. Having a physical presence in NJ makes them a much easier target.
  15. Just to confirm what the other dealers are saying...........SS is not required for NICS check and they usually come back just as fast with or without it unless there are people with your same name that have criminal records. NICS is most concerned with DL and SBI numbers, get those wrong and there will not be an approval.
  16. 31 posts of this again? - NJ law only applies in NJ - You need to fill out a COE when purchasing a long gun firearm outside of NJ because federal law requires FFL dealers to follow all laws of both the sellers and buyers state when selling firearms, there is no law requiring a buyer keep a COE (or a pistol permit) after the purchase is complete, you can throw it away if you want to. - Airguns are not firearms under PA and federal law, so purchasing one in PA does not require any paperwork. -FPID cards and HG purchase permits are not required to own firearms or transport them inside the exemptions in NJ. -Bringing antique, muzzle loader or air rifles and pistols back to NJ is legal if purchased in a state that does not have a law prohibiting such a purchase (which would be almost all other states outside of NJ). The only legal question (as has already been mentioned) is the legality of discharging the air rifle in the town where the friend lives.
  17. The still have a warehouse in Sterling, NJ. Charlie owns that building, so he hasn't totally left NJ. When you order gun parts from Sarco, there's a good chance the part is in Sterling - Sarco then transports it to PA and mails it out from there.
  18. The issue for Heritage Guild and Sarco is that they have a physical presence in NJ. If the NJ AG wanted to take action against them for something, they can seize their assets in NJ easily and tie them up in court for a long period of time and great expense to these companies. Some PA dealer who has no NJ presence does not have to worry about that since the NJ AG has no authority to seize a business in PA, the only thing the NJ AG could do is to file a lawsuit against them.
  19. The delay is most likely with your local PD. The old town I lived in exemptions would take 2 and half to 5 weeks to get back because they would hold them until they had a lot of other stuff to mail to the FIU. My new town sends it in right away and I got one back in 8 days, the longest has been around two weeks. Your town probably sat on it for a while.
  20. True, but I personally won't sign a document swearing the information is true until I can verify for sure it's correct. I think most other dealers would think the same way. The NJSP is particular about serial numbers being correct.
  21. That would be a straw purchase, Bloomberg will come after you!
  22. M16 mags fit semi autos, so you'd be beat. You can have mags that ONLY fit a full auto of any capacity in NJ, you just need to make sure no one came out with a semi auto version of that firearm because that will make the mags instantly illegal if the hold more than 15 rounds.
  23. Glad to hear you OK, I've got ice melter in stock if you need any......... A guy I talked to said it was really bad up there this morning - my parking lot was a sheet of ice this morning, but the ice was noticeably heavier in Stockholm and further into Sussex than by my office.
