  1. My understanding is that a FID is a prerequisite for a PtPP. ie, you cannot obtain a PtPP without first obtaining a FID. It seems the automatic FID on application for a PtPP covers that.
  2. Not entirely correct. With a valid FID on your person, you can drive anywhere in NJ (not just to range/lgs/gunsmith) with a properly stowed unloaded long gun and ammo. Handguns are still to and from exempted locations, unless you have a ptc.
  3. Fugedaboudit. I was in process of responding, but Mr Stu's answer is far more comprehensive, so, do the Stu.
  4. That plant blew up almost two years ago. The author of that article is a moron. The plant produced M6 propellant. I guess to "journalists" everything is a back rifle.
  5. You may recall, I was the only one at that carbine class without a pistol. Hmm, I wonder. Can I get a CCW with my Shockwave?
  6. If I was getting a CCW, without question, I'd definitely go. I learned a great deal at the S&T carbine class I took.
  7. Are you sure the PC and monitor were plugged into the battery powered side of the UPS? That model has six outlets; Three on the right that are surge suppression only (basically just a power strip), and three on the left that are surge protection and battery supplied UPS. The large capacitors (assault capacitors???) in a UPS (or a surge protector) are capable of providing a few seconds of power on their own. I agree that most PCs do not use anything close to the PSU rated output, 750W is a momentary peak output rating and mostly a marketing gimmick for gamers. Assuming that the PC and monitor were plugged into the battery powered side of the UPS, and the PC was drawing 350W, that could trigger an overload shutdown on a UPS rated for 210W. However, with LCD monitor, proc, SSD and video card, the demand should have been well below 750W. Probably closer to 350-400 Watts, still over the UPSs 210W rating.
  8. If you want to keep it simple, just buy an MP3 player. If you have to go wireless, get one that's bluetooth enabled. I like the Sandisk players, they are inexpensive and durable. Load up your music to an SD card or on the device itself, and done.
  9. If you have put down crabgrass control (pre-emergent), you should wait at least 60 days before seeding.
  10. Most lawns are a mix of grasses like tall fescue, creeping red fescue and maybe some Kentucky blue thrown in for good measure. It's unusual for a lawn to be of just one grass because of varying conditions such as sun and soil moisture. For whatever reason, the grass that has gone to seed is the predominant in certain areas. ONce you mow it and keep it maintained regularly, the seed heads will not reappear. If the grass is a problem, just nuke the area with roundup late summer, then reseed with grass that is more similar to the rest of the lawn.
  11. That grass like stuff looks like ordinary perennial grass that went to seed. It's hard to tell without a good picture of the seed heads, but all grasses will produce seed heads if they are not cut. Lawns should be mowed about two weeks after they start growing again, even if it doesn't look like it needs it. That prevents seed heads from forming, robbing the plant of energy better used for root and blade growth.
  12. Just don't use this guy...... gal....errr whatever. He has terrible reviews.
  13. New members cannot send PMs until they reach a post threshold. This is a recent security feature set up to discourage scammers and spammers. Sellers can send PMs to new members though.
  14. Women wear pants and shirts just like men. I'm not trying to be obtuse (it's a natural talent), but why can't women just use the same concealment systems as men do? The purse option was popular with a few pistol pack'n mamas I knew on the Ruger forum, some brand of purse designed specifically for CCW. It has a sort of secret compartment ya just shove your hand in. There was some debate about off body carrying and that purses do get snatched. It was the only option according to one gal, as she could not handle the weight of a pistol and mag on her hip for any length of time.
  15. Here's a bit of advise, buy a burner cell phone and set up a g-mail account just for this. Record a VM outgoing msg that has specific instructions, name, what are you interested in, leave your phone number etc. You will filter out about 50% of the BS by doing that. If they do not want to leave a name and number, they are full of shit scammers. When I had to sell some surplus things, including a nearly new car, the amount of bullshit questions and stupid offers was staggering. The way to handle these things is simple, just ignore the stupid questions and low-ball offers, don't give it a second thought. When people call and start acting weird, things like being in a rush to meet (can we meet right away) or inappropriate questions unrelated to the item(s), just hang up. If a conversation is not going to be productive, end it. If you want to be nice... Sorry, my dog just got out the yard, click. Otherwise, just, click. Oh, and everyone has a sob story, can you lower the price etc etc. Well, when I was told sob stories, I made up my own, guess what, I got hung up on a few times. I guess it makes buyers uncomfortable when you tell them your four children are eating cat food for dinner.
  16. What's there to negotiate? He's selling for $2 to $3 under retail as it is. Pro tip: Negotiations should be done using PM
