  1. I think if I do just a P2P my town will be around 1.5/2 weeks max. When I went for my FID the longest part of it was waiting for my finger print appointment. I'll let ya know in a month or so when I go apply. Gotta get wifey's first then I'm gonna apply for 2 or 3 permits.
  2. Wow a photo? IDK if I'd be ok with that. I'd probably walk out and go to the NJSP station and apply there instead.
  3. Well at least it's a step in the right direction. They've been extremely helpful whenever I've need them. I'll be going for permits soon so we'll see if it keeps up
  4. IDK how they were when you tried. Both me and my wife applied with no issues and were done within 3 weeks or so.
  5. My cousin was back from deployment in Afghanistan and applied for his permits twice, still nothing...he also lives in Parsippany. He's been back for over a year and has given up since he's about to leave on assignment again in Afghanistan. That may be a different story though, they might be dragging their feet to make sure he doesn't have PTS or something.
  6. Are there any online courses/tests to get certified for free? I looked but I only saw on site training/tests, no online courses.

    HK VP9

bhunted, you're making me want this gun more and more. Too bad I gotta buy wifey's handgun first
  8. Mt. Olive also an awesome dept. to deal with.
  9. The Sopranos, Prison Break, ummm, Girl Meets World.
  10. My town is more then supportive/helpful when we went and applied for mine about 5 months ago and again when we applied for my wife's a few weeks ago. They even changed how the application process works between those two times and explained the difference in the process without even asking.
  11. I always feel intimidated going in there. If I walk from the front door to the firearms department you can literally pass 8-10 employees. All of them are usually just BS'n with eachother, or the 3-4 of the ones behind the firearms counter talking/ignoring you until you walk up. Then they have always looked at me like I was going to try and steal something. I only had one nice conversation at the gun counter, and their Ruger 10/22 price was about $30 overpriced. I've only bought small accessory type stuff from there. Succasunna/Ledgewood location.
  12. Now once we get to my AR build...then we'll discuss how we'll place that one
  13. You know my situation, which is why I need to me more cautious. Pretty much going to go with loaded in safe attached to immovable object inside bedroom. I was thinking of in my night stand but the night stand can be carried off where as the shelving unit can't be.
  14. My original plan was Ruger SR45 and either a S&W SD9 VE or Ruger 9E, but now that I see the HK, I may just go for one of them for a little less, then save for a 1911. EEK, the addiction grows!
  15. For what HK usually makes/costs, it's very budget friendly too. I wasn't going to look too much into it because HK usually = $$$. I decided to take a peek, and was very pleased at the prices around my area. Just will take me a bit longer to save for my next 9mm then I thought is all
  16. It never even crossed my mind to carry while at home. I honestly didn't even think whether it's legal or not. It seems a few on here tend to do this on a daily basis. My handgun is currently in a locked carry case on the top shelf of a closet, and a loaded clip. I was even telling my wife that, if we ever got into a situation where I needed to get my gun to protect us, I don't feel I could in time. Which now has brought us into discussing having the gun in a small safe, something we're currently researching. On those to points... 1) How common is it that people in NJ actually carry while in their house/on their property? 2) Something being semi-discussed in another recent thread, but a decent smaller sized/affordable safe for access to 2-3 handguns and other valuables. Nothing too fancy only because I'm not in a permanent residence so I'll hold off for that at a later time. I was going to go with a standard "home" safe, with one shelf, two steel rod lock and digital key pad that I'd bolt to a tall shelving unit. Something easy for me to get into but nothing the kids could and not gonna be an easy task for someone to walk out with. The shelving unit is thick wood and 8ft tall.
  17. Think I'm leaning towards this after I get my wife's first handgun.
  18. Just got my membership with this link. Waiting on confirmation and paperwork in mail. Hope it works cause I'm ordering from Sportsmans Guide soon anyway so the gift card works perfect! Thanks Alex!

    S&W SD9 VE

Her permit came in today, so we'll obviously be purchasing within the next few months. There's another gun she wants to see/hold first before completely deciding. Once we buy hers I'm going to go apply for more purchase permits for myself. I can't be using the HK as my primary range gun. I'll end up having to take too many breaks cause it'll heat up and I'd rather not put a ton of wear on a gun that's only going to go up in value.
  20. It's also being discussed over at the 1st Amendment Forum...just FYI for those that don't check there, or use "New Content" link and won't see. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/71452-robin-williams-dead-being-treated-as-a-suicide/
  21. I was just going to ask if they were rubber coated and if so where to get them lol I would like to get a smaller safe for now until we move into a permanent house just to store a couple of our handguns for easier access to them. Right now my 9mm is locked in it's gun case. By the time I grab the key, take the case off the top closet shelf, unlock 2 padlocks, open the case and load the mag into the gun I'll probably be dead. Much rather have a small safe to punch a code into quick and remove gun/mag.
  22. Absolutely agree with her taking a course. I was gonna look into picking her up an age appropriate sized rifle but if you have one she can use I'd be more then happy to borrow it LOL! Between me, you and my father I think we'll get her taught soon enough. She does seem interested which I'm excited for. She's also been told for years about the dangers/safety that needs to be taken in regards to any gun.
  23. Wait, there's no shell holders. Need to add those.
