  1. Beretta 1301 Tactical a good choice to join the "club" in this thread? - I've been eyeing one up
  2. Well at least I know what to do in the event of a future trip if ours gets scrapped this weekend LOL - AVB-AMG, thanks for the detailed post! I am working on my FL, UT, and NH CCW's as we speak but they are not issued yet - our trip from Bridgewater to my in-laws off Emerald Isle/Atlantic Beach is approx 11 hours with stops, we usually just leave around 5 AM or so and drive through - we also have 15% windows tinted and like I said we have my 2 dogs in the backseat with the seats folded down so they might be within reach of my pups but not us during travel (the firearms) LOL Hoping everyone is alright down there and your house in the OBX too!
  3. Oh if it was just the 2 of us I probably would but we are going to be packed as is with the dogs - I'm just gonna go to Wally World when I'm down there and feel like I live in a free state for the week and buy some Winchester White Box and a brick of 22 and be happier than a pig in shit LMAO - we pass by like 3 gun stores on the way to the island (they have a causeway similar to LBI) and a Wal-Mart -
  4. Yeah they are about 2 hours north of Wilmington if I recall - we usually take what I call the "leisure route" which is 25 less miles than going I-95 down to Raleigh area and then 3.5 hours over to the coast which is the quickest method by time, but about 25 miles more - but all highway. The leisure route is going over the Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel and taking highway 17 among some other roads. If traffic is favorable we always go the Eastern Shore route, but last time we went down there was that 1 day storm down there about a month ago so we went down 95 just to stay away from the coast while it was still storming. This is where I'm at pretty much - since I'm not staying in DC or Maryland I am "passing through" as my end destination, if I had to avoid the coast, I would just put in the trunk - plus, my 80 pound barking American Bulldog in the backseat will be enough of a nightmare to worry about if we get stopped by police - trust me we are always watching the speed lmao. Trust me we don't stop in Maryland (with the Eastern Shore route thats never a problem anyway), and like I said everything will be in locked "containers" and not accessible to my wife or I, and obviously unloaded with no ammunition like I said - so I'm not too worried. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything besides locking my case/bag (since my wife has a wagon with no separate trunk), making sure unloaded and not in glovebox or center console - so we follow the "Safe Passage" provisions of FOPA
  5. So we are heading down to my in laws on OBX on Saturday, with our 2 pups - there is a good outdoor range about 40 mins from their house, and a ton of LGS's in the area, Walmart etc for ammunition needs. I think my wife might want to bring her 10/22 to shoot, and I might bring my pair of Glocks down with us to have some fun with - I'm trying to make it easier on myself by not transporting ammo and just buying it at Walmart or the local store when I'm down there - My inclination is to just put a lock on the zipper of the Takedown bag (mags enclosed will be empty), and take my range bag with my pistols and empty mags and lock up the zippers on that too and toss it in the trunk - First time doing a road trip with my firearms so am I legal and good to go with that for intrastate transport?
  6. I read the original post as the buddy owns the property - Idk I don't see much wrong here unless the guy is going out and shooting people with it - if he is legal to possess and has your permission to store your firearm on his private property color me naive but I dont know what the issue is.
  7. UPDATE 10/1/16 - Damn you RTSP and your wait for a port! On Saturday I had to wait a bit before shooting and couldn't resist counter shopping - Yeah I brought a permit so I was prepared, but I didnt have to buy (yeah right) For all intents and purposes the VP9 is usually about $50-100 more than a similarly priced Glock 19 - so with that in mind, I spent more than a few minutes holding in hand, dry firing to get a trigger feel, etc on the VP9 - I really wanted to fall in love with it and wouldn't have minded the price premium. It feels great in the hand, similar to my PPQ, and is just a gorgeous pistol. However, my awkwardly small hands I have real trouble with that paddle mag release. Thumb is an absolute no, trigger finger is not as smooth when dropping a mag (takes it off the upper part of the frame so its less steady in the hand), and to do it with my middle finger, I'm sure I would have to practice more, but I just felt awkward curving my finger that much to drop it. Justin @ RTSP has small hands like me so he felt my pain, and he noted that the Walther's with the paddle release extend further down the trigger guard which honestly would be better for me personally. Trigger was lighter than my Glock but not as crisp, a decent amount of take-up, and reset isnt as crisp. Not bad at all though, but owning a PPQ I am now spoiled So with that being said I didn't fall in love with the VP9, and I ended up with another boring Glock - Nice and predictable trigger out of the box, and for me the Gen4 Glocks just feel great in the hand. Now my G26 has a big brother If I was a righty, I'll be honest I probably would have left with the single stack Glock 36 that I held - it didn't feel like a .45ACP, felt like a compact 9mm in the hand. But they only have the Gen3 frame so no reversible mag release which would have driven me crazy. I wasn't in the market for another .45ACP currently, but I probably will be soon. Shield 45 felt AMAZING, and I was most impressed with it as I always overlook the shield - but man is that a compact 7 rounds of .45 - XDS in 45 I held and the frame is just way too smooth and just doesn't feel good to me at all. And the plus is that in another 6-7 months I'll be getting another Blue Label discount coupon from GSSF, most likely going with a G43 on that one - coming from a person with small hands, for me to say the G42 is TINY is an understatement - wow - my wife may like that, and the slightly lower recoil of the .380 compared to 9mm - so that one may go to her in the future, maybe in a pocket holster in her purse for when we are down south. And I lied, I actually have another 2 permits now sitting on my desk, one is spoken for (Beretta 102 from my wife's grandfather) but I still have until late November or another 90 days after, to add something else (you know you can't waste these!) - Definitely will look into another 45ACP for the next one, that Shield 45 was pretty amazing - In the meantime, super happy with my Glock 19 and RTSP as always gave me great service. Peter if you are still on the boards your staff is always excellent!
  8. I actually havent LOL but I have heard horror stories - who knows maybe picking up "ShopRite from Home" groceries will net me a huge bargain tomorrow lol!
  9. So 5% off on guns makes them basically in line with the other LGS's lol - I may stop in just because I live 5 mins away and pass it on way home from groceries -
  10. ^Great impressions and thanks - wow you really have to look for the P320C for sure if you had to get it from a shop in CT!
  11. Come on down the water is great over here! Haha, I'm off Washington Valley -
  12. Just want to update my latest round of permits - Bridgewater (my town) and Robert Hanlon have been doing excellent lately! Dropped off 1 permit that had expiration date of 8/29 on that same day, with 2 forms for 2 more pistol permits - Mr. Hanlon was out to lunch, left my cell if he needed me for anything - I did not know if he'd call me for the extended one first or all together - Got a call 2 and a half weeks later from him that all permits were ready to be picked up, 2 new permits dated 9/12 and my one with extension now good till 11/27 I believe - I know a lot of towns have a lot of BS going on now, and I know that Mr. Hanlon is probably busier than ever considering the upcoming election, but great job to him and great job to my Bridgewater PD - glad paying my taxes on time has helped me with something LOL
  13. Same 2 forms to change address on FID as the ones to get your pistol permits - check the box for pistol permits on the STS 033, as well as change of address box - good luck, your town sucks.
  14. This was post cleaning and walnut grips installed. Still need to try to source new magazines
  15. I know! I had no idea until he gave it to me that it was produced for such a short period before being called the 76, it was sitting in a zippered leather case with wool lining for 40+ years in his attic - only 2 magazines and 1 is a bit worn but the gun is in great shape, I completely stripped it and gave it some good Ballistol treatment, removed the grips and really gave it some TLC - also found rare lefty Beretta walnut grips for it (it still has the original plastic grips too) - its a sweet little pistol and so gorgeous! I will try to upload a pic of it currently.
  16. Well its down to the PPQ in 45 or the tried and true Glock 19 or the VP9 - will update what I end up with I was holding out for the 9 round Sig P320 Compact in .45ACP but they seem perpetually not available, I've been on wait lists for them to be back in stock forever. Was a cool concept to buy a Subcompact conversion for the P320 .45ACP but the availability from Sig is what is shying me away. I have 3 more permits, one is used for my Beretta Model 102 (gifted from my grandfather), and I'll still have one left, although the budget is likely low for any more pistols this year.
  17. ^^I agree - If i wanted a small 380 I'd have a hard time not getting a G42
  18. Well at 30 years old, I used to have about half of the total to get me into the 3% category - Then that stupid damn flood of 2016 wiped out my basement and everything was just lost - Now I'm back to being in the 78% (LOL) I sure as shit wouldn't answer a cold call survey if it asked me about how much fellatio I get in a year, let alone any survey about guns.
  19. Yep up 23 and Sussex, maybe a bit of west Warren county, then south like Pine Barrens type of area is the only places you can actually target shoot on your property.
  20. In bold absolutely - if the commoners were allowed to carry in this state it might actually be a reality - plenty of other school districts doing it in non-communist states.
  21. I forget what the total number is, but aren't you able to get something like 42 states CCW total with just UT, FL, NH, TX, VA, and AZ non-resident permits? So by that point you are able to carry in 80% of states or so - it looks even worse for NJ when you put it that way
  22. This is what I have been saying for years - I support our law enforcement but in this state the majority of police unions, organizations, etc speak for the right to carry firearms to be reserved to law enforcement only, unlike their brethren in 45 or so of the other states - until we have a change in the mindset of law enforcement in this state, where they don't feel like they "earned" their right to carry, and all citizens who are law abiding have that right, nothing will change here. And you're spot on, its just another reason for them not to support it, as it gives them more post retirement job options -
  23. ^^This ^Ok Sooooooo I'll bring ammo, when are we all having a shooting party at said house?
  24. I would call them and ask - I was going to send a bank check because they deduct it out of my account right away
