  1. Oh it's ABSOLUTELY cheesy. It's either intentionally done to piss people off, or it's incompetence. Or maybe a little of both...
  2. Just reduce it on your printer to credit-card size and laminate it at Staples.
  3. Glad it finally came through!! Let us know how things go with the request to the court!
  4. This. Probably a good idea for those who haven't applied yet to wait just a little more to see how things play out. @gunforhire - thanks again for all the work helping to get things this far.
  5. I called a couple of times while I was waiting and they were polite each time, so I don't think it will hurt you. Maybe talk to your local PD and ask them about reapplying.
  6. Welcome to the forum. There are people here who submitted applications in July/August and just received their permits. Some are still waiting. Look at the start dates of some of these threads. You could be in for a long wait...
  7. It's tough when there's no comment from the court. From the article: ""So it really was unfortunate to see that we couldn't get any emergency temporary injunction against those laws." " So it looks like someone will actually have to sue after they're somehow harmed by the new law?
  8. If you started the process with your local PD I would recommend calling them first. Ask them if/when they sent the application to the court. From there (or instead) call the superior court and ask them for an update.
  9. Agree. Particularly when neither side of the argument negates what the opposite side is saying. TWO things can be true at the same time. 1 - The law does not require that only carry the gun(s) you qualified with. One permit covers all. 2 - If you have a permit with an accompanying court order you should definitely follow the directions of the order. If you disagree with them or don't wish to abide by them you'd be best served to work that out with the court. For practical purposes they're both moot points until you encounter the police. If you do encounter the police it's best that you have already squared things away and have appropriate documentation.
  10. Riiiight. If everyone "waited" the courts and PD's would have dragged their feet even more and no permits would have been issued until they received "further clarity" while they waited for additional legislation. The avalanche of applications forced them into action. Yes, it's annoying that there's an extra step if you want to either vacate the order or add additional guns, but it's worth it IMO to get the process started.
  11. Is this going to be a concealed carry gun? I'm not sure I know what a "dedicated target gun": would primarily be used for.
  12. Nothing has changed IMO. There was never a need/requirement for the courts to issue the silly orders about specific pistols...but they did, so the people who received them would be wise to follow. As Stu said, unless there's something from my superior court (Morris) vacating the (silly) order that came with my permit, I'm going to adhere to the court order. Given the current activity in the courts where the NJ2A groups are fighting the new Murphy legislation, I think the court order nonsense will be on the back-burner.
  13. Yeah, Morris seemed to be doing OK for a while but in December things got SLOW. My application sat with the court for just under 90 days before it was finally approved on January 3rd. I know of one other person approved in that "batch" and his app was sitting for a similar time. As far as I know they are still working the backlog through the process, but it can't hurt to call the court and ask for a status update. I've not seen a specific Morris County NJ Firearms Facebook group, so you may want to join the existing ones and see if there's a desire to branch off. At this point I would presume the gun groups are laser focused on the pending legislation to stop the recent Murphy legislation, but it can't hurt to send Strikeforce a message and let them know you're still waiting.
  14. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the other counties will follow suit.
  15. I doubt the amount of finger on the trigger is the root cause of not keeping shots on paper at 20 yards, but unfortunately it will be VERY difficult for someone online to effectively diagnose your issues and provide meaningful guidance without actually watching you shoot. Generally speaking if you have a strong support hand grip and you're focusing on your front sight through the entire shot you should be able to keep things on paper, but there are too many variables to tell you what to work on. ANY reputable range should offer beginner classes or even privates for you. If you've been shooting on your own for a few years already (and if you're teachable) then one or two lessons should be all you need.
  16. I'm not a lawyer, but from what I've read/understand there is a significant weight granted to historic precedent. In the case of letting PD know right away that you're carrying, there are many states that have the requirement, so there is reasonable expectation that it would be adopted in NJ. Personally I don't have an issue with letting police know I'm carrying. Better for them to find out from me right away then being surprised at some point in a prolonged encounter.
  17. The legislation indicates that one qualification covers you for whatever you're carrying (as long as you own it). ALSO, there are those who get their permit along with a court order that restricts carry to ONLY the particular guns that are listed. That's about as clear as it gets right now, so it's best to proceed with an abundance of caution and err on the side of following the most restrictive guidance.
  18. I think that's a very important point. I could see that part of the legislation staying in place even if a lot of the other nonsense is struck...
  19. Yeah, once I had it scanned it was easy to play around with it on the printer. It's not the most glamorous thing in the world, but you can definitely read it. The order doesn't say what size/form the copy has to be, it just says you have to have a copy
  20. I did several things. I scanned a PDF copy and saved it to my phone. My phone is almost always with me when I'm 'out', so that will cover me 99% of the time. I made a reduced sized copy that fits on 1/2 of a standard letter sized page and folded that into a credit card slot in my wallet. I made a full sized copy and put it in my range bag and one in my truck. If I'm carrying outside those places then something has gone TERRIBLY wrong so the paperwork will be the least of my issues.
  21. Indeed. That's the world we live in. When you exhaust your options in the lower courts you then get to the Supreme Court for the 'final' decision, but that's just 9 individuals who operate with THEIR ideological/political whims. It's the worst system in the world...except for all the others.
  22. I presume if at any point you're discussing your firearm with the police there's a fair chance it won't be a brief encounter. While they shouldn't ask to inspect your gun or paperwork without a reasonable cause, I would err on the side of complying with what they ask and complaining/protesting after.
