  1. Thanks for sharing this. I took a look at their website and they say that registration is at 4:30, but do you need to call ahead if you're new?
  2. Wouldn't it be a Mini-14 at that point?
  3. I tried the link but got an error: Sorry, there is a problem We could not locate the item you are trying to view. Error code: 2F176/1
  4. Great! Glad you're taking advantage. Sorry, no experience with the .308 yet. So far I've just shot the 115 gr 9mm XTP. I usually shoot 124 grn FMJ, but I really like the XTP's...
  5. I'm sure you already know about Hornady's free bullet offer, but just in case here's the link - https://www.hornady.com/corporate/promotions/get-loaded-2017 With the purchase of the press and dies you'll get 900 bullets.
  6. Good luck Marty. I got mine a couple of months ago and I'm really happy wit it. Loaded over 1000 9mm so far and will be adding.45 acp next month. Couple of observations from a noob: - I added a lock-washer to hold the shell plate in place. If the shell plate starts to come loose bad things can happen, so the lock washer keeps it in place nicely. - Since it's new, you may notice some powder spilling when the cases index. The ball bearings under the shellplate are so new that the cause a little "hop" and some powder can bump out of the filled cases. I use my finger and add a little drag to the shellplate to help it ease into place. - Make sure to clean and lube (with Oneshot) the primer feeding area. I didn't do a great job at first so primers wouldn't consistently feed (resulting in powder going into un-primed cases!). I cleaned it properly after that and there were no issues. - If you use the Hornady 9mm combination seat/crimp die you may notices that it "grabs" just a tiny bit after it crimps. Not a big deal, but some people don't like it and opt for a Lee crimp die instead. I'm only a couple of months ahead of you so let me know if you have any questions that a noob might be able to address. Enjoy!
  7. Yeah, I was hoping someone would have some experience with the powder and let us know how it worked for them. One or two ponds might be worth a gamble, but four pounds can be a lot if it doesn't perform well. I figured I'd share just in case.
  8. They're doing free hazmat until December 16 with a 4 lb. minimum of Shooters World:
  9. I apologize if my first post came across as combative. I didn't miss that part. I just interpreted it differently than you. I read it that people with out of state c permits couldn't be arrested/detained for charges "related to the possession, transportation, or carrying of firearms". The way I read it that left the door open for charges related to other laws (like magazine and ammo limits). Again, I'm not a lawyer, so I apologize if this has already been decided.
  10. Not sure about this. I looked at the text of the resolution and there's no mention of magazine restrictions or any other limitations on firearms other than the ability to carry concealed, so all other laws would apply. I'm not a lawyer, but I would imagine that the first thing NJ police will do when they encounter someone with an out of state concealed carry permit will be to check their magazines for any "high capacity" magazines. While it would be ludicrous, someone from out of state with 17 rounds in their Glock G17 could get arrested in NJ while someone with 15 rounds in it would be fine.
  11. I just went to the website and added 2 ponds of the powder and went to checkout: Shooters World Clean Shot Smok eless Powder 1 Lb By Lovex Item: 130-CLEANSHOT1 In Stock 2 $19.73 $39.46 Subtotal $39.46 Tax $0.00 UPS GROUND Est. Shipping $9.72 Insurance $0.00 Hazard Fee: $0.00 Order Total $49.18 I didn't buy it, but the Hazard fee was definitely not there.
  12. Just got an e-mail that Midsouth Shooters has free hazmat if you buy a minimum of 2lbs of Shooters World powders. Anyone try to the Clean Shot? On the website they compare it to Winchester 231 and Titegroup.
  13. I'm almost always alone when pistol shooting. It's a private range so 90% (or more) of the time I'm the only one there. I feel MUCH safer there than at any public range I've been to. For rifle shooting it's always at Cherry Ridge, so there's typically at least one or two other shooters.
  14. It doesn't have to take a lot of space!! I converted an old black and decker folding workbech into my reloading table. It fits in the corner of my spare room next to a keyboard and rocking chair. Join the fun!
  15. Thanks T Bill. Yes, I have a notebook dedicated for reloading so I'm trying to keep track of as much as I can. In an effort to keep it simple I'm sticking with one caliber, powder, and primer to start. This first load worked out well, so I'm probably going to make another 30 rounds of it. After that I'll increase powder a bit (using same bullet, brass, primer COL, etc.) in batches of 10 and see how it goes from there. After that the bullets from Hornady should be here so I'll have to reset things since they're JHP and I'm using RN right now.
  16. Just bringing this back to the top to thank everyone for your input. Over the past 6 weeks or so I've been buying things as I catch them on sale, and last weekend my Lock n Load press arrived. I haven't had a lot of free time available in large blocks, so over the course of the last week I've been setting the press up to load 9mm. Like many others I had the most difficulty setting up the dies. I ended up smashing a few cases as I was trying to dial things in, but I have TONS of brass saved up so I didn't mind. Since I bought a Hornady press and dies they're sending me 600 "free" bullets, but I couldn't wait for that so I ordered 100 from Everglades ammo and picked up some powder and primers to get started. I successfully loaded and test fired my first 20 rounds this morning with nothing going bang unexpectedly. I was at the bottom of the load data (.1 grain under actually) because I'm being VERY cautious, but all 20 rounds functioned as expected out of my Glock 17 with no problems cycling, ejecting, etc. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I go, but I'll put them in new threads as appropriate. Thanks again!
  17. I found that to be the most absurd part of the argument. The "loophole" does NOTHING more than allow people to rent a gun and shoot it at a range!!! They can't bring it home, or take it off premises in any way, so how the hell is it even an issue????
  18. Oh they're still whimpering... https://patch.com/new-jersey/wayne/shooting-range-danger-community-gun-opponents-say Political Candidates Speak Out Against Wayne Gun Range Legislative candidates say there are not sufficient precautions in place to protect people from those who would use the range.
  19. This. Move your guns to your new permanent location and then send NYC their paperwork back. Honestly, I'd hesitate to provide them any information on the disposition of any of your guns.
  20. In my limited experience you're asking a lot from a sub-$100 spotting scope. I have one and I can just make out .223/5.56 holes on paper at 200 yards.
  21. Or you could place them in the for sale section of the forum????? You would be reaching out to a significantly higher number of people than your friends/co-workers. Much more targeted way to do it IMO...particularly if you're planning to sell a revolver of some kind.
  22. I'm going to stop at Dick's on my way home and pick up an extra box or two "just in case"...
  23. My favorite quote from the article: " Since 1968, more Americans have died from gunfire than have died in all our wars put together. "
