M1 Carbine legality question

Recommended Posts

Technically yes. There are one or two variations NOT specifically marked M1 CARBINE. Since they are banned by name, not type the variation would be legal under the rule of law.

The problem is finding a NJ FFL to transfer you one. I haven't found one yet who will take the chance.

What two? Plainfield Machine Company Carbine and ??

Actually, no carbine is marked "M1 Carbine". Most are marked "US CARBINE" and "CAL. 30 M1".

The NJ AWB says "M1 carbine type", so...just like "Avtomat Kalashnikov type" firearms, i.e. Saigas, SARs, etc... they are legal in a neutered configuration.

ETA: I was even told by a trooper from the firearms unit that he did not see why the carbine would not be legal in a neutered state.
