coldsolderjoint 84 Posted July 8, 2009 Minimum 18 Inch barrel, 26 inches overall length (Federal Laws) No magazines over 15 rounds (NJ Laws) Other than that.. on a pump shotgun.. go nuts with features and tactical accessories.
Chad 3 Posted July 8, 2009 Yeah, what he said! As long as its a pump, not a semi-auto you are good to go in nj.
tony357 386 Posted July 8, 2009 you have to check. i do not believe you are allowed the pistol grip.
Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 Pistol grip is fine on a pump as long as the overall length is 26" or above. Same goes for folding stocks and collapsable stocks.
Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 I've seen this for sale at Cheyenne I think I saw that too....now they have one there with a HUGE muzzle break....Mossberg Road Blocker! lol Looks like this one but it has a pistol grip and no red dot, not sure about the heat sheild.
Guest Posted July 9, 2009 i have a 500 and i love it... to quote my friend when he shot it the first time.. "yeah man its cool for breaking shit" LOL we had set up some door and shot 12 gauge buck through it.. LOL
Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 They are def. good guns. I am partial to their safety vs. the 870 safety. Just my opinion. Being lefty the 870 safety is not great and I dont want to spend 70 or 80 bucks to get the safety switched.

Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 VERY nice UG! I'm a big fan of tac shotguns! Especially the 500/590s! Have you ever held one that has the pistol grip (ar style)? They have a nice feel to them.
Urban Grunt 44 Posted July 9, 2009 Never had just a pistol grip,i like the combo full stock/pistol like in the Mariner picture.
Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 Yeah, thats what I meant....lol, I just don't know the name of it, I call it a AR style pistol grip. I have one of those on my 870, handles great. Much more secure in my hands and also makes it harder to take away from me. I got it on ebay, its a ATI model around $30 or so.
Guest Posted July 9, 2009 mine is JUST in pistol grip and honestly its VERY easy to handle.. even with 12ga buckshot...

tinyboy 1 Posted July 9, 2009 Where do I get all those doo dads like the flashlight and the thingies to hold the shells
Chad 3 Posted July 9, 2009 There are alot of tactical accessories on ebay. I HIGHLY recomend this light. Have it mounted on my 870 and love it. VERY bright and durable...can't beat the price vs. some other brand name lights for $300+. You'll need something like this to mount the light on the mag tube or barrel. Here is a link to a side saddle on ebay from the same seller as the lights, he will combine the shipping costs to save you some $$. If you dont have a ebay account and want these, let me know I can order them for you. If you don't do the ebay thing, here are some sites.... http://www.tacticalshotguns.com/categor ... _Home.aspx http://tacstar.com/ http://www.atigunstocks.com/index.aspx

Guest Posted July 9, 2009 if you are going to put "stuff" on your weapon pick it well and use reasonable thought... *What is the intended use of the weapon? is this a sporting weapon? or a self defense weapon? or does it have any other specialized purpose... *What will help me use the weapon for that if it is a home defense weapon maybe the addition of a weapon light system would help? *Do adding these items create any negatives if you take a ton of shit and pile it on the gun, it could make it awkward to handle and overly heavy... or even throw off the natural balance of the weapon.. if its a home defense weapon for example.. something like this is really nice... http://www.surefire.com/Mossberg590500 it will allow you to have a weapon light without wires all over the place.. limiting the likelihood of getting tangled up, or causing other issues.... sure there are FAR cheaper options.. but sometimes the added quality is worth the cost..
