USCCA Phone App Gets It Wrong

I just downloaded the USCCA reciprocity phone app and I'm deleting it.  See the screenshot below. This is probably the most relied upon reciprocity app available and I'm really disappointed at how sloppy the information given is.  I can't rely on this when traveling to other states when they get NJ's info so wrong.  People can go to prison over this.

Might want to take a look at handgunlaw.us. With the way things change so frequently here, can't blame anyone from not having the latest/greatest nonsense going on in this state.

USCCA doesn't even cover NJ.  Check US Law Shield.

I was going to say the same thing.  It's hard to fault USCCA, which is a wonderful organization, for having a hard time keeping up with NJ's constantly changing carry laws these days.  BTW, their website does mention a duty to inform police as of July 1st of this year.

I agree that the laws are hard to keep up with.  And the app was free so they owe me nothing.  But, if you're in the business of gun law and you offer a product that gives legal advice that people will rely on to stay out of jail, getting the information wrong is serious.

If it's an app store app, a part of the problem may be that it's not dynamically served from the web and getting an new app version approved can take way longer than it should.

100% correct. When I'm planning a trip that takes me through different states I use handgunlaw.us for intro info, and then use the links to each state's firearm laws to confirm. Matter of fact, planning a trip right now and avoiding Illinois at all costs.
