azmaveth 1 Posted October 19, 2023 Is this really happening??? https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2023-10-19/federal-judge-again-rules-california-assault-weapons-ban-unconstitutional-appeal-likely
Mr.Stu 1,929 Posted October 19, 2023 This is totally expected. The next thing will be for CA to appeal it to the 9th Circus and from recent example, the same anti-gun en banc panel will grab it and stay the ruling even though they will have to ignore their own assignment rules to do so. Bellasdaddy 31 Posted October 19, 2023 NJ stickhandles around outright bans by banning features, capacities, locations, hollowness…etc in order to obfuscate the issues to the point where no subject ever knows what is and what is not legal and it all gets sorted out by fear or legal fees…
ESB 248 Posted October 19, 2023 WTF, he did another 10 day stay though. You'd think he'd learn.

They've already filed the appeal. https://assets.nationbuilder.com/firearmspolicycoalition/pages/5381/attachments/original/1697748177/2023.10.19_176_NOA.pdf?1697748177 This is another step in the ping pong battle. DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted January 25 6 minutes ago, ESB said: Can anyone give us the Cliff Notes of whats happening. Read wikipedia for the case background: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_v._Bonta#Legal_proceedings Then, picking up where Wikipedia left off - Yesterday the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments from both the Plaintiffs ("The Good Guys who just want to not be infringed") and the Defendants (The State of California) on why the prior court's decision (that California is appealing) is right/wrong. Edit - a little more color - the 9th Circuit is infamously biased anti-gun, and it will be interesting to see what contortions they go through to try to uphold California's AWB in the face of the SCOTUS Bruen decision.
njJoniGuy 2,133 Posted January 25 My best guess is that this 3 judge panel will sit on this case until the en banc ruling on the other (the mag ban) case in play there. Welcome to the world that the assholes here in NJ helped create in '90, Commifornia and Illinois too.
