I have had good luck buying partial containers IF it is a powder I already use and have in inventory. Then I bring a sheet of white paper to the buy, spread a spoonful of powder from the partial container out, and next to it spread a spoonful of the known good powder I brought along. Look at the samples closely. Not only should the partial container powder show only a single type of grain, with no evidence that any other powder was accidentally mixed in, but the grains should exactly match the grains in the known good powder.
