Whoever comes up one that does not jam on popular factory ammos and shoots more accurate than 10/22, I will get it. Unfortunately Ruger couldn't say that for their 556 22LR.

The problem with Ruger's offering is that it's not really an AR. It's a 10/22 in a fancy dress. Safety is in not like an AR safety. Mag release isn't like an AR mag release. Bolt catch/release? Negative. Proper sight offset? Nope. There's already aftermarket parts to turn a 10/22 into a AR look-a-like. Don't get me wrong - it looks like a fun little gun, but, as an AR training aid (as the guy in the downrange video tries to make it out to be) Ruger missed the mark. And at a suggested retail of $625? Not gonna happen for me

I think the point is mute for NJ. As far as I can tell it is not NJ legal. It is a semi-auto with a detachable magazine that has three evil features; a folding stock, pistol grip and a flash supressor. You are only allowed one.

I thought this would be like the M&P not the 10/22. Cross this one off the list.

Wolfy, with the exception of not having an extended mag, it has the same handling as an AR with the reliability of a 10/22.

 

I was looking at a Nordic build, now I will wait on price and decide between the Ruger and the Smith.
