Wolfy 51 Posted September 1, 2009 I heard Ruger has an AR in 22LR due to be released soon. Anybody find info on the web?
tj462nj 32 Posted September 1, 2009 I just checked some of my suppliers' sites, nothing coming up.
Caine 147 Posted September 24, 2009 http://www.ruger.com/SR22/index.html Not exactly an AR.. but close I guess. The S&W still seems like the way to go IMHO ETA: http://www.downrange.tv/blog/?p=768 some video of it
Wolfy 51 Posted September 24, 2009 Thanks Caine
AntZ 1 Posted September 24, 2009 Whoever comes up one that does not jam on popular factory ammos and shoots more accurate than 10/22, I will get it. Unfortunately Ruger couldn't say that for their 556 22LR.
Caine 147 Posted September 24, 2009 The problem with Ruger's offering is that it's not really an AR. It's a 10/22 in a fancy dress. Safety is in not like an AR safety. Mag release isn't like an AR mag release. Bolt catch/release? Negative. Proper sight offset? Nope. There's already aftermarket parts to turn a 10/22 into a AR look-a-like. Don't get me wrong - it looks like a fun little gun, but, as an AR training aid (as the guy in the downrange video tries to make it out to be) Ruger missed the mark. And at a suggested retail of $625? Not gonna happen for me
Col. Mortimer 11 Posted September 24, 2009 I think the point is mute for NJ. As far as I can tell it is not NJ legal. It is a semi-auto with a detachable magazine that has three evil features; a folding stock, pistol grip and a flash supressor. You are only allowed one. Caine 147 Posted September 24, 2009 I wasn't even looking at it from that point of view. Just for what it is (or isn't as the case may be).
tbtrout 141 Posted September 24, 2009 I just saw a picture of one. It looks like a Nordic Components kit which uses a 10/22 action.

Wolfy 51 Posted September 24, 2009 I thought this would be like the M&P not the 10/22. Cross this one off the list.
tbtrout 141 Posted September 24, 2009 Wolfy, with the exception of not having an extended mag, it has the same handling as an AR with the reliability of a 10/22. I was looking at a Nordic build, now I will wait on price and decide between the Ruger and the Smith.
