Anyone ever change the main spring to a D spring?

I just did mine, but not sure if correct.

 

I followed video instruction and everything seems to be correct.

 

What I am noticing (along with the much needed lightening of the DA trigger pull) is when I 1st start to pull the trigger, it makes a click and the hammer gets locked back maybe 15% of the way (after I stop pulling the trigger). The hammers is very partially cokced, enough to be able to use the decoking safety to release the hammer.

 

I do not recall it doiung this before I messed with it.

 

Is this normal?

Mine functioned the same as before the installation, only the DA was a little lighter. Did you follow this video?

I would take out the D spring and install the factory. Check the function. Re-install the D spring to see if it still functions the same. If you are still worried, bring it to a gunsmith. It could be a bad spring. You are correct in not using it if you feel it is not functioning properly.

I did put the original back and it does the same thing. I just do not remember pulling the trigger partially and having the hammer partially lock back, but I only did get the gun last night.

 

That is the video I used and did it just like that.

 

BTW, what a world of difference the spring makes.

 

I can cock it with one hand while keeping my finger out of the trigger guard easily now and def better during DA.

I still have the orig spring and it does that 15% cocking with a partial DA pull.

AFter swapping the spring and dry firing for the better part of the eve, I am REALLY liking it in SA,

DA def lightened up, but feels real nice in single, easier to cok with one hand and very easy to line up the sights.

 

Put on some Hogue rubber grips that came with it and am REALLY liking it.

Now I know what you mean about the cocking a 15%. Yes, there is a "half cock" on the trigger that will be released when you use the safety/decocker. I have the same set-up with the D-spring and Hogue grips. The Hogue grips fit my bigger-than-average hands. The vertical cuts in the front part of the frame on the grip feel like they are cutting into my hand. The Hogue covers the cuts and gives a much better hold and feel.

Mike the 92 did that when I had it too, it's totally normal it's called half cock. On the 92 cocked and locked is not possible so you can carry it half cocked to still be safe and also lighten the trigger pull a bit. The D spring was in the gun when I traded you.
