gsg 1911 22lr or chiappa 1911 22lr

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking to get one of these two pistols. I am reading reviews on both of these pistols. It seems to be personal preference as which one to get. But is the anything that is known to be different about them or making one better than the other? Also, is there anywhere in nj that has them both in stock? I would like to feel them both side by sides. Any information about these two would be great.

Thanks

chris

I'm not 100% sure which pistols you are talking about, but having a threaded barrel on a pistol does not automatically make it illegal.

Discussions about "substantially identical" aside, here is the list of evil features:

ii. A semi-automatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at

least two of the following:

(1) An ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;

(2) A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor,

forward handgrip, or silencer;

(3) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles the barrel and

that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being

burned;

(4) Manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and/or

(5) A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm;

GSG-5 Pistol is definitely legal. My friend has one and I've fired it :)

The GSG 5 Pistol is not legal it has a magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip and weighs more than 50 oz unloaded. Those are 2 of the evil features, I believe it may have a threaded barrel as well. If you mean the GSG 1911 that is a different gun which is legal in NJ.

Bushmaster pistols are not legal for the same reasons, magazine location and weight.
