lunker 274 Posted October 26, 2010 You are comming to this one! I have everything you need... Let's meet Thursday afternoon. What would i need? I have never been to one before. Can you use any pistol, or is it USPSA rules? Thanks
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 What would i need? I have never been to one before. Can you use any pistol, or is it USPSA rules? Thanks Check out these two pages of their site. http://centraljerseysteel.com/about.html http://centraljerseysteel.com/rules.html If there's anything you're not sure about let me know and I'll touch base with the guys who organize the steel shoots. At a bare minimum you need your weapon, five magazines (loaded 10 each), and 125 rounds (I bring 200 just in case but usually need no more than 135). There are tables to shoot from so you don't need magazine holders. You can shoot holstered or unholstered. Holstered starts from the surrender, unholstered from the low ready. There are usually only one or two people who shoot unholstered. Times and results are posted within a day on the site.
Guest HuntingPaper Posted October 26, 2010 Any pistol from 9mm to 45acp. No light loads. Holster, mags and ammo.
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 hopefully picking up my gun tonight. need LOTS of trigger time & Luis's help! i may have to consider this one. Honestly, this is an awesome way to get trigger time in. It's very, very low pressure. There are brand new shooters all the way up to some of the fastest guys I've seen. It's a lot of fun. Krdshrk 3,878 Posted October 26, 2010 Sigh. I need that mag that Beretta owes me (free mag rebate) I think I'll stick to USPSA first.
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 Sigh. I need that mag that Beretta owes me (free mag rebate) 9mm?
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted October 26, 2010 Yup. Beretta Px4 Storm 9mm. It's ok - I've been shooting too much lately. And ammo costs keep going up (darn walmart for raising their prices!)
CageFighter 236 Posted October 26, 2010 What did you buy? Glock 19. needed something reliable, since i plan on going thru LOTS of rounds!
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 that doesn't take the mags for the G17 (gen3) does it?
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted October 26, 2010 Yes the G19 can take G17 mags. They just stick out of the magwell.
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 Alex, I've got 5 G17 mags. As long as we don't shoot one after the other and there is time to reload you can use mine so you don't have to go out and buy some right away.
StephanieSeven 70 Posted October 26, 2010 Yup. Beretta Px4 Storm 9mm. It's ok - I've been shooting too much lately. And ammo costs keep going up (darn walmart for raising their prices!) I've heard good things about this place and know some guys who buy from them. They're reloads. You have to contact them for prices. I think they pay around $245 for a case of 1000 9mm 147gr JHP and $215 for a case of 9mm 115gr FMJ. http://www.atlantaarmsandammo.com/products.html
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted October 26, 2010 Yeah but why buy reloads at about 21.5 cents/round when I could buy brand new factory loads from walmart for about 21 cents/round? I'm not including tax or shipping on it but still - it's cheaper to buy from Walmart. Also when 9mm goes on sale at Cabelas or elsewhere it gets even cheaper (Including shipping I paid 18.9 cents/round)!
