Mossberg 930

Recommended Posts

Well..... considering a semi next for Trap/Skeet/Sporting Clays.

I am pretty frugal ..... when it comes to guns.

As much as I know a quality O/U is more accepted for these sports...... I just cant see myself laying down $1000+ for any gun. Just not in my thought process..... that kind of money would much sooner go into the GTO......

So I am looking at some lower priced Semi's ....

So far, leading in my book...

Beretta 3901

Mossberg 930

Also still being considered is the Remington 11-87

and pretty much eliminated is the Stoeger M2000

I am going to shoot a buddies Beretta this weekend..... but I know no one that has handled or shot a Mossberg 930.

Need opinions.....

I like the Remington 1100. I have the classic trap model. It is a really nice, soft shooting autoloader. I just took it bird hunting last weekend and it performed well. It only has a 2 3/4" chamber. The 11-87 has a 3" chamber, so it can handle Magnum loads. I believe this is why the 1100 cycles the lighter target loads (you would use for clays) better than the 11-87. Ask Matt about his 11-87 jam-o-matic. A nice used 1100 can be had for about $400.
