henrym 19 Posted February 14, 2011 Does anyone have any experience with any of the new production model 10's from Smith&Wesson?
lunker 274 Posted February 14, 2011 I understand the allure of buying a new gun, but... There are tens of thousands of used Model 10's out there (more than most models because it was a standard issue police sidearm for years), some in like new condition. I would bet you good money that the used ones are better made (without MIM parts too), better fitted, and have a MUCH better trigger pull than the lawyer-approved new ones out of the factory. And I won't even get into the infernal lock on the new ones. And you'll spend a lot less money. Something to think about.

lunker 274 Posted February 14, 2011 A quick search on GunBroker.com brings back 91 active auctions, most of which have a "Buy It Now" price if time is of the essence. There is one out there for you. Go for it!
savageshooter 10 Posted February 15, 2011 I have a NYPD Model 10 from 1961. Built like a tank, and as mentioned they can be had for 1/2 the price of the new production 10's. Come to think of it, Shore Shot may have a couple in the used case.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted February 15, 2011 I had a Model 15 (same gun but adjustable sights and better trigger) and they are great guns! It was a cops gun and my pops bought it used. They are perfect guns and pop up all the time on the internet gun sites.
Sigman 41 Posted February 15, 2011 The model 10 is a work horse. I have a mid 70's heavy barrel in excellent condition. Try to find a used one like others have said. Double action is heavy, but it's a sweet shooter.
