Battlefield 3

Recommended Posts

To clear up some confusion, BF: Bad Company 2 is not Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2 came out in 2005, and, IMO, was the bar for multiplayer modern FPS. Bad Company 2 came out 2010, and is more known as BFBC2 or BC2.

BC2 was a HUGE step forward for the series, as it really started showcasing the Frostbyte engine. The guys at DICE seem to be getting better and better with this engine, as demonstrated by the video included in the OP.

As for the Vietnam expansion, its OK. I feel like I was far more invested in the regular version, plus the fact that there was a whole BF game dedicated to Vietnam already kind of diminished some of that hype for me personally.

Regarding COD, I don't get how people think its actually any good. Its a big hype-machine, like the Halo series (which I think are equally as boring). MW1 was a great game, both single player and multiplayer-- I actually take the time to play it still on occasion. MW2 had some epic moments (like the "Wolverines!" level), but multiplayer felt so recycled and bland after the first few weeks. I had high hopes for Black Ops, but the narrative was crap, and the multiplayer only reminded me of why I stopped playing MW2 (the secret classic-ish zombie game is the only high point for those $60 I spent). Why do I think COD is so bad? Because every map on most game modes boils down to running around the map in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise fashion in which the maps themselves are not even layered/complex. Even Counter-strike had better level design and complexity-- COD just throws a bunch of fancy sprites and textures, and somehow people adore the game.

I play COD4 and COD5 on PC only. And I can't believe you Wud say that there is something better. I played BF2 on ps3 and let me tell their multiplayer is nowhere close to COD level.

Dude, nothing beats getting a squad together jumping in a black hawk and reigning terror on a 5 square mile map. COD is your typical QCB first person shooter, it has no where near the magnitude of multiplayer perks that BF2 offers. If you have actually played BF2 and used most of what the game has to offer you probably would know the difference. I know people that have played BF2 and never knew what a squad was... thats 50% of the game right there. Add in the specialized classes that actually do stuff like demo, supply and medics, you really get into what warfare is all about. People dont understand that COD is a game that you just play, BF2 takes skill and strategy, you need people on your team who contribute more then just running around shooting, you need to take out head quarters and artillery, provide cover fire and transportation for other team members... Some games i jump in an Anti-aircraft tank, and sit in one spot just shooting down planes and helis, some games i run the black hawk and fly squads around, some games i'll just cover one flag with a sniper rifle, some games ill be a medic and just revive team mates, some games ill just resuply troops, the list goes on and on. having diverse squads in probably the key to the whole game..

Like i said i play alot of COD so obviously i enjoy it just as much as you, but it is definitely on a whole different level then BF2. My favorite was the attach choppers like the Apache, i could spend hours in one of those with a co-pilot. plus 12 player multi-player vs 64 players.... thats what i call a real battle!

i never got into the bad company series so i cant really comment on it.

You actually find games faster in BF2 than in cod and it is more realistic. although cod had many more game types.. I still love both games.

Yeah, and games are on servers not host games like COD, you can save your favorite servers and jump right in when the game loads. Even better certain servers can make there own rules and change gameplay options, with active admins who kick worthless players. Games also load back to back so you don't have to sit in lobbies and wait between games like COD.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
