10 MM Glock Upper

Recommended Posts

Finally after a long time searching i found a complete Glock 20 upper for my G21.

There is a few on gunbroker right now.

I plan to keep it stock for a while and am wondering which brands of ammo have you shot out of a stock G20 or G29 ?

Congrats. I love the 10mm. The G20 is a lot more controllable than my old G29. In order of preference:

1) Swamp Fox - The one true max loaded 10mm ammo out there (short of rolling your own). And they are reasonably priced. This ammo pushes the threshold of the caliber.

2) Buffalo Bore is good, but really expensive. You think the prices are reasonable, but then you see their ammo comes in 20 round boxes. :(

3) Double Tap Ammo - This stuff is good, but not as good as the hype. It seems like many of the velocities have been chronoed at several thousand feet above sea level. Nobody on GlockTalk can get Mike McNett's claimed velocities. That said, this ammo is a good combination of powerful and fairly priced.

If you want a nice loud report and flash, go with 135 grain. If you want to think about taking down a black bear, try the 200 grain WFNGC hardcast. Be aware that the 230 grain rounds often have difficulty feeding in anything but S&W 10mm revolvers. The DoubleTap variety pack is a good place to start.

Alot...

Lunkers list above is the high end stuff, personal defense and hunting. I like the double tap personally even if it does fall short of claims, it is still quality and has NEVER failed to go bang.

For practice find some American Eagle 180gr or Blazer 180gr. You can also check with Georgia Arms (georgia-arms.com) and get one of their "Canned Heat" ammo boxes filled with 500rds of 180gr FMJ for about $200 delivered.

Here is something I just found from CTD... backorder ok

I used to find Winchester White box 10mm everyone once in awhile at Wally world down south. It works but was pretty dirty.

+1 on Georgia Arms for practice ammo. Good stuff, and you can save the brass for when you start reloading (like almost every good 10mm afficionado does eventually).

Thanks for all the good info so far.

I am also planning to get into reloading for a few calibers and am looking into a basic reloading setup.
