So going into target department store with your gun is a risk, although you may be allowed to carry in the state you don't know if target has a law against carrying in their stores. Restaurants may be taking up the same no gun rules however they never had to post it in their windows since pretty much no one gets to carry a gun.

Department stores don't make "laws". They may have "policies", but unless there is state legislation giving "no gun" signs the weight of law, the most that could happen would be that you would be asked to leave. If yoiu refuse, then you could be charged with defiant trespass.

Stores and restaurants are private property and can make whatever rules thay want and in respect for private property, we should abide by them.

You are correct in that, given the status of carry here in NJ, not many people have looked at the statutes to actually see what restrictions there are. There are federally prohibited places to carry, but need to delve into the state laws to see what they hold.

Adios,

now whats interesting.

from out of state, carrying in NJ.

need to follow the no hollow points/15 rds or less rule i assume?

I'd assume 15 rds. Hollow points are not illegal. There is a tack on charge if they are used in the commission of a crime IIRC.

Hollowpoints are not legal to carry unless this Bill would exempt them. I have not read anything to that affect. New Jersey law says:

NJS 2C:39-3f

Dum-dum or body armor penetrating bullets. (1) Any person, other than a law enforcement officer or persons engaged in activities pursuant to subsection f. of N.J.S.2C:39-6, who knowingly has in his possession any hollow nose or dum-dum bullet, or ....

Subsection f is the exemption statute for the "to and from" range, home, shop, work, etc. There is no "add on" violation. If one is carrying outside of the exemptions, then they are in violation.
