TheLugNutZ 21 Posted December 2, 2011 Used to play pretty regularly as a 2nd form of income basically but having a kid changed my priorities and made family time more important. Havent played since i went on a bad streak in Aug & Sept of this year, but making a run tonight to Harrahs to play in the 815pm $105+20 tournament. Anyone else play? AS350Driver 56 Posted December 2, 2011 Was there the day after Thanksgiving, playing $1-2 no limit. When I sat down at the table the guy next to me was wearing a CJRPC hat, he said he doesn't really go shooting anymore though. I really only get down there maybe once a year, otherwise it's pokerstars for me.
Soju 153 Posted December 2, 2011 I used to play a weekly house game with friends when I was 18, but I'm guessing that isn't the type of poker you are talking about. Now that you mention it though, I really need to get to the casinos.
TheLugNutZ 21 Posted December 2, 2011 Yeah we used to play weekly all the time usually a quick tournament for like a $10 buy in. I or one other friend of mine used to win each week so everyone stopped playing LOL. I used to go down every or every-other week and just play 1/2 with the occasional tournament a few years back. In the spring and early summer of this year I started playing more often again and I was up about a grand from about 4 trips down, but lost it all in about 5 trips between August and September. Just a horrible run of bad cards, loose players getting lucky, and just flat out bad luck. Haven’t won a tournament (in a live casino) in about 3 years. Bubbled a few times and placed in the money but no 1st or 2nd places. Hoping i can turn it around tonight.
Soju 153 Posted December 2, 2011 Nothing more frustrating then playing against bad players who constantly make the wrong calls only to draw out on you. I like to call them River critters.
TheLugNutZ 21 Posted December 2, 2011 Yeah i mean playing bad players is like a catch 22. You want bad calls, but when they catch on you after you really bet enough to get them out of the hand its REALLY bad and you end up losing a lot of money that way. I used to go often enough that i pretty much knew all the regulars at Harrah’s (the pros i guess you can say) and for whatever reason the last time I went they were all at the 1/2 table just throwing around money. I had good hands but would literally have to bet the pot to get anyone to fold and Im talking $40-$50 bets each hand if there was a pre-flop raise. I had top pair top kicker and with a pre-flop raise and a bet on the flop the pot had a good $60 in it. There was a flush draw and I bet $35, she flat called. At this point im either thinking flush draw, trips, or possibly the same hand. Bet $50 on the turn and she calls again, $50 on a friggin draw and hit it on the river. Man i was pissed. She was like "sorry, you should have bet more on the flop, by the river i was priced into the hand." this was a pro. she was like yeah i usually play 2/5 but playing with a friend so im just screwing around. that was the last time i was down there... bry@n 195 Posted December 2, 2011 Last time I played poker in a casino, I was in FL at the Hard Rock. Sat down with a buddy at a table and I was up from playing blackjack. Had a run and was up$1500. My buddy kept talking smack at the table and actually called me out on a bluff one hand. I was absolutely bluffing but it pissed me off. Especially when he thought he said it low and basically cost me the hand. Needless to say, I played loose the rest of the way and gave the tell when I wasn't bluffing. I took 300 in an hour. When I walked away, the guy who was a calling machine to me, was happy. Am I the best player, no. Good player? I think not. but I know the game and only do it for enjoyment. It was great to piss him off. I also couldn't play because I priced myself into a hand on a draw and pulled it on the river and the cards were already changing. I just got pissed and emotional about the hand when he raised me before the flop. lol Good luck.

Used to go down and play at least 3 times a week after my day job and being 2 hours away. Taj Mahal was my home, never played tournaments accept home games with the boys. Always played 1/2 and 2/5 and if I did well by the end of the night (7 in the morning an hour before my day job) I would call out of work and hit the stud table to try and make some real money. Did that for a couple of years. I still go down probably once a couple months. Never really had a bad streak but gambling and playing cards is like firearms to some people, they don't get it and think its the root of all evil.
