keithco88 3 Posted January 26, 2012 Anybody seen/held/used the new Streamlight TLR-4? I'm almost definitely getting the new Walther PPQ for HD and want to put a light on it. I was about to grab the TLR-3 but just saw they have a TLR-4 which seems like the 3 + a laser. Anybody seen it or read any reliable reviews? Even better anybody have it on a gun and given it a test drive?
Caine 147 Posted January 26, 2012 I believe the TLR-4 was just announced last week at SHOT 2012, so I'd be surprised if anyone even has them in stock and ready to ship yet.
keithco88 3 Posted January 26, 2012 Blast! Now the question is can I make myself wait :-)
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted January 26, 2012 I dunno. It looks really tall and chunky. Where in comparison the TLR-2 looks a lot smaller
Vlad G 345 Posted January 26, 2012 Uhh .. you have the first two pictures on compact/subcompact hangunsand the third on a full size handgun. Are you actually surprised that it looks chunkier or bigger on a smaller frame gun? Here is a hint: Odds are that for production efficiency purposes they only use one screw head size for the attachment. Compare the size of the screw head vs the size of the light in the first and last pictures. You still think the TLR-2 is smaller? More importantly you think a light holding two cr123 batteries is smaller then one containing a single cr2? My problem is that that I have nothing else that uses CR2 batteries and I don't want to stock another damn battery type in the house, I wish someone made a decent single cr123 weapon light. GiantsFan 22 Posted January 26, 2012 I went with one of these for my HD weapon. I myself don't see the overwhelming need for a laser light in a "close quarters" HD application and for $59 bucks, this will more then serve the purpose. It's a CR2 single battery light (comes with a duracell). http://njgunforums.c...270#entry415270
keithco88 3 Posted January 26, 2012 Thanks blue, and go giants! I'm a jets fan but giants for the next few weeks because I hate the pats. I wanted the laser because I don't wanna buy two pieces. This will also be my range gun and such so thought one investment better than two. Agree I prob wouldn't use the laser for hd
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted January 27, 2012 I would still buy the tlr-1s(brightest model they make), for the added bulk, weight and price of the laser u better use it or loose it. The tlr-3 is small, and a good option on a compact, but it's not entirely all that bright. The trl-1s is also priced the best. The laser models are also 2x+ the $$$ compared to the non laser counter parts.
