BCeagle 12 Posted January 31, 2012 My wife bought a Para 1911 S14•45 Limited for me for Christmas last year and its a pretty gun but I am having some issues with it. It shoots great, but the slide is really, really hard to pull back and when I shoot it every 2nd or 3rd shot wont shoot. The trigger is basically stuck and wont depress. Once I clear it, it works fine. It is ejecting the previous shell and cocking the hammer, but the trigger will not budge, no give nothing. I tried cleaining it and oiling it very well but no help. Any ideas.
hd2000fxdl 422 Posted January 31, 2012 What ammo are you using, Factory or Reloads? Also when you field strip it are there and obvious signs of wearing (ie: tight metal to metal contact) ???
papercutninja 24 Posted January 31, 2012 Have you ejected the magazine from the pistol? It almost sounds like the trigger bow is dragging on something...
BCeagle 12 Posted January 31, 2012 Factory Ammo-Winchester White Looked fine when I opened it up but I am not a pro, it was the 1st time I ever stripped a 1911.
BCeagle 12 Posted January 31, 2012 Have you ejected the magazine from the pistol? It almost sounds like the trigger bow is dragging on something... I guess I can try seeing if it will fire, if I drop the magazine after it jams. It just annoys me thats its not every shot (just almost every shot) but that makes sense. By the way, but for this issue, the trigger feels great.
papercutninja 24 Posted January 31, 2012 Hmm. Interesting. I'm not a 1911 expert by any means, so i don't know if i can help any further.
checko 180 Posted January 31, 2012 The slide is definitely locking all the way forward when the trigger is stuck? Have you tried cycling some snapcaps to see if you can duplicate the problem. Maybe with the grip safety not engaging the trigger?
Bully 749 Posted January 31, 2012 Also try switching ammo. WWB does not work worth a darn in my gun. That being said, you may want to give Para a call. Good luck with it. C
tony357 386 Posted January 31, 2012 make sure you are squeezing the grip safety all the way. may need adjustment In this case i would ship it back to para under warranty.
raz-0 1,259 Posted January 31, 2012 You can get behavior that is kind of like the OP's description if the sear spring isn't installed with all the legs where they belong.
LorenzoS 100 Posted January 31, 2012 A failure every 2nd or 3rd round is not the ammo or lubrication. Call up Para customer service and have them fix the gun under warranty. Don't let them give you any bs about wasting money running 500 "breakin" rounds either.
BCeagle 12 Posted February 1, 2012 Was hoping I wouldnt have to send it back, I heard their service dept is a nightmare. My wife should know better and bought American
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted February 1, 2012 My wife should know better and bought American They are American.....North American. Manufacturing facilities in Canada and brick & mortar in the US in North Carolina. Most guys would be happy to have a wife or GF who buys them guns, regardless. Brian B 2 Posted February 2, 2012 Before you send it anywhere tape that grip safety down or put some rubber bands around it and make sure the issue isn't with your grip. If you start milking the grip while firing you will release the grip safety, if you grip too high you will release the grip safety. Give it to someone else to shoot and see if it happens with them.
