Sorry I suggested he bail out. Had he crashed and died trying to land some might have said "should'a bailed dude!"

 

No doubt Ray! We're all monday morning quarterbacking it here. That said, it took a big brass set to do what he did and not "just ditch".

 

Regarding the ego - many people are damn good at their jobs, and are not the last person on call in an emergency situation, but are usually the first, they think and act and let panic happen in dreams and nightmares and not in real life. In some cases, they're cool and calculating, and don't tolerate mediocrity and have no quarter for a lack of common sense. This is often perceived as ego whereas it's not - it's a damn good education and a high level of experience with real life application. So, I called it ego because that's what it's often perceived as, but in reality, much of it is being damn good at your job. I'm sure some can relate...

Well it sounds better then the more appropriate term "crash landing" which subsequently sounds better then the more correct word of "crashing".
