I personally run an ACOG with their heads up micro red dot on the tail for close in engagement. I've had good success out to 50yrds with that micro dot then switching to the full ACOG optic. The strange thing with this approach is the change in cheek weld between the two since the eye plain is different. If you're comfy doing it, i like this option as a best of breed combined into one optic.

Pics?

I've played with that setup and I just cant warm up with "prarie dogging" to be able to look through the RDS.

I agree. I took the MRDS off of my ACOG and installed it on my shotgun.

Ray, I don't have pics, but it is a chin weld instead of a cheek weld. You basically have to slide your cheek up from a normal mount to see through the mini RDS mounted above the ACOG. It also increases your mechanical offset at CQB distances drastically.
