12-GA Target Loads?

Is there such a thing? I'm looking for 12-ga ammo that could be used for target practice and costs less than your typical 12-gauge ammo. I'm also assuming it would have less energy and less recoil. I have some Remington "managed-recoil" stuff that has less of a punch, but it's just as expensive as a normal round, if not more.

Look for Remington Gun Club Target load specials at Dicks. Then buy by the case. Cabelas online often has specials on it too with free shipping.

I picked up 25 rounds of Federal #8 from Brownells for like 6 bucks. Haven't shot it yet though so I can't attest to quality.

Cabelas usually has some good deals, as low as $4.50-$5/box on target rounds.

 

Most/all #7.5-#9 shot is considered a target load so yes they exist, its what everyone uses.

 

I used to reload super light rounds, basically the ballistic equal to a 28ga (3/4oz at 1100 FPS or so) which is already a soft shooter, but fired from a heavy 12ga it resulted in the recoil lighter than a .410. Infact sometimes I would be convinced it wasnt much more than a .22

 

The kicker is that it absolutely crushed clays as well, I scored into the 80's at lehigh valley sporting clays

Usually I just wait for Dicks to have a sale on Remington Gun Club then go grab a case (250rds) for about $60 OTD.
