Kaiser7 33 Posted February 2, 2013 Perhaps I missed out on earlier discussion on this topic, but I was pretty busy with school when American Guns was cancelled. Personally, I'm sort of surprised there wasn't a greater outcry when these shows were cancelled, or put on hiatus. Not only were "Sons of Guns" and "American Guns", as well as the other firearm related programs, fun to watch, but they were a breath of fresh air. Honestly, before "Sons of Guns" I don't remember ever seeing a TV show that focused on guns. And, more importantly, a show that did not portray firearm ownership as a fringe thing, or only portray guns as killing machines, or the tools of criminals. Actually, if anything, I don't know why those shows, which did NOT have any violent content would be considered objectionable, whereas Stallone is releasing a movie called, "Bullet to the Head." I guess we shouldn't be surprised, but it's stupid that the TV shows that focus around hobby shooting would be pulled, yet no television shows or movies with violence were completely pulled. (BTW, does anyone know if either SoG, or AG will return anywhere, with their ratings SOME network must want to pick them up) Probably a waste of time, but I've considered contacting Discovery and bringing this up. Guess I'll just have to wait for the Gun For Hire show, though the more gun programming, the better in my book.
Vlad G 345 Posted February 2, 2013 Actually I think more important then shows like Sons of Guns are things like Mythbusters, shows with a broad appeal that cover firearms extensively while avoiding the political conversation.
bobblackrifle 28 Posted February 2, 2013 Try the Outdoor channel, Sportsmen channel, The Pursuit channel. Nothing but Pro gun and hunting shows.
papercutninja 24 Posted February 2, 2013 I think Mythbusters REALLY opened up to the culture that guns are just tools. They use guns as neutral objects to prove or debunk myths.
Qel Hoth 33 Posted February 2, 2013 Lords of war on one of the discovery channels, I forget which one. Militaria auction, not a pure gun show.
