Classic Arms has Bulgarian AK-74's for $899. They sell out fast, but they seem to get them about once a month.

It is legal except for the mag (EDIT: and as mentioned by Dan muzzle brake welded and bayo lug grounded off).

Fidn an FFL that will pin the mag for you.

I believe Arms and Anmo and JET Agent ( forum vendors) do this.

 

I dont know about the quality of these builds though. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

They are great guns. Very nice quality. The muzzle brake has to be welded, bayonet lugs ground down, and the mag has to be pinned before you can take possession. Be sure your FFL/dealer can do that for you before ordering. I suggest both vendors mentioned above AnA and JETAgent as being both very capable , with good experiences with both of them.

 

Grab some spam-can 5.45x39 russian surplus ammo and have fun. The ammo is surprisingly high quality. Though prices have gone up over the years for the stuff, it is still affordable.

ahh.. I missed that I also see this in the description: "Nodak Spud AK-74 high cap receiver"

So if the ffl can make the appropriate changes I am good to go?

It looks like Waffen Werks to me: built on Bulgarin kit + ESS barrel + original Bulgarian AK-74 compensator (chrome lined!).

Barrel must be chrome lined.

(I think Classic has old description, lately WW build on their own receiver - a good one)

 

If it is WW, it's a great rifle - I have one and happy with it.

Never seen a negative review on one of those.

Those are Waffen's, and they are some of the nicest 74's out there. If you can grab one, they are well worth the price.
