NY shotgun question.

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be headed up to my uncle's cabin in upstate ny next weekend and i wanted to try shooting some clays for the first time while where up there. My question is I would be bringing up my 590a1 which will hold 9- 2 3/4's. I did some research and I'm under the assumption that now in NY you can have a firearm and or magazine that holds 10 rounds but can only load 7 into them. Is this correct? Any info would be be appreciated. Thanks

Load seven rounds and you'll be fine. While the semi-auto laws are somewhat less vague, the law is specific enough to go into detail and note that you can only load your lever-action rifle with seven rounds and the same holds true for your pump shotgun.

If you have reviewed the original SAFE Act document produced in January, to the one that out there now, it has changed a number of times, in ways becoming more definitive, and others more vague. It will continue to be an evolving process.
