NJKen 23 Posted May 24, 2013 I stumbled on this once and added it to my bookmarks. Its not exactly what you are looking for but it will teach you more than you will ever need to know about ammo cans. http://olive-drab.com/od_firearms_ammo_cans.php Ken
chris327 30 Posted May 25, 2013 Thanks. A lot of info in there. From that it seems there are also 12ga, 38 special, 22lr, .30cal. Would be nice to get my hands on some of these others.

chris327 30 Posted May 25, 2013 In my searches i have also come across cans marked n340 8 fuze. Seems it is the fuze for a howitzer. Very interesting stuff. and just cool to get your hands on these things.

ogfarmer 138 Posted May 25, 2013 chris did you look at the different ones on ebay for reference?
GRIZ 3,369 Posted May 25, 2013 There was a lot of engineering that went into the size of the 50 cal ammo can and the size of the packaging inside. It carries 50 cal, 38 spl, 45 ACP, 5.56 and 7.62 NATO (in boxes or bandoliers), etc with no wasted space. Add a foam insert and it carries artillery fuzes. If you find a DoD ammunition manual it would help you decypher what a "M999 fuze for "Mk IV projo" actually is.
alowerlevel 77 Posted May 25, 2013 you have any other different marked ones so i know what i can try to find? Ill try to remember to look later, but I think most of mine are marked either m118 or m855.
