n4p226r 105 Posted June 16, 2013 gun was relatively clean. had shot about 120rds before and another 30 or so after for 150 total. (149 total i guess) pulled trigger, kid of a pssstt sound, then nothing. ejected the case and this is what i see. bullet never left the casing. checked the barrel and it was all clear. the rest of the box seemed fine. since the pictures are huge i'll just link to them http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/wsaraceni/F77A607A-09EB-43DE-BBE5-4DFFBEE32281-3758-000002E4CAF9D466_zpsfd6866a3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/wsaraceni/35928ACC-0819-4C82-BC16-DEA12F3842FF-3758-000002E4C4789008_zps8038f195.jpg

n4p226r 105 Posted June 16, 2013 I'm pretty sure that is the primer. Pushed in a bit
hd2000fxdl 422 Posted June 16, 2013 Primer cocked let powder fall out and primer went off when you pulled the trigger?
olderguy 0 Posted June 16, 2013 Pull the bullet and see if there is any powder or residue.
n4p226r 105 Posted June 16, 2013 unfortunately the round is in the bin at the range
Maksim 1,504 Posted June 16, 2013 Are those reloads? They look like military brass, if so, it was crimped before, someone when reloading, removed the crimp and likely went a little too much. Primer pocket was loose, crimp tight. It goes bang, primer flew out.
n4p226r 105 Posted June 16, 2013 sorry. thought i posted. factory winchester 9mm nato 124gr in the white box. n4p226r 105 Posted June 16, 2013 now that i think about it. when the malfunction happened, i field stripped the gun. i was left with a huge black mark on my hand. so i think it was probably significantly dirtier at that time. i guess the real question is, besides cleaning, is there anything else to look at on the gun side? hd2000fxdl 422 Posted June 16, 2013 As far as other things to look at, from everything you have said, I think it was just a faulty round and not the gun, but a good takedown and once over and cleaning just to make sure would all I would think you need to do. olderguy 0 Posted June 16, 2013 I'm going to go with the powder wasn't loaded at all and what you heard was the primer.
Bagarocks 36 Posted June 17, 2013 I had this happen once, same as you described. No powder in the cartridge plain and simple
