sorry for your loss. i know its hard, had to put down buster( our boxer of 8 years) last year and it is tough on the whole family. but boxers are great, and plus they are the cutest things ever. i would definitely suggest a boxer. great dog and very loyal.

BLF- sorry for your loss. I remember the day we put down our 8 yr old rottie and it sucked!!

 

We recently rescued a lab/hound/something else puppet from SNL rescue. They are volunteer organization and foster all the dogs to make sure they can assess behavior. Our pup definitely needs time and attention. The one piece of advise I can offer is get plenty of chew toys and start the house breaking outside not matter what. We used wee wee pads in the garage and now it takes her longer to go outside without the pads...

You can tell that I'm fond of coon hounds. Redbone, Blue tick or Treeing Walker. They're very gentle and get along with kids. They are clumsey and will knock over small children. They do not like small furry animals and will chase them if off leash. They will tend to be a bit vocal which is a source of both amusement and annoyance.
