Carlisle Swap Meet & Cabela's

Recommended Posts

So I went to the auto swap meet at Carlisle, PA today with my dad. Unfortunately we didn't find anything for the Camaro we're rebuilding. Did any of you go or have ever been?

On the way home we stopped at Cabela's (never been there before) and was amazed at what it's like to be in free America and just pickup a gun at the store. They had plenty of ammo including .22lr even though it was a little expensive. And for those of you that reload they had a pretty good stock, including some pistol powder. It's a long ride but if you really need stuff it might be worth it.

Oh there was plenty of stuff we could have gotten, just not the few little things we were looking for. Did find some nice hubcaps for a friend's 63-64 comet. Found some interior stuff for the Camaro but not the steal deal we were looking for

Yep, road tripping out to Cabelas tomorrow ... did you notice if they had any Mini-Mags?

Didn't notice since it wasn't something I would need. Good luck shopping today!

Even though we didn't find all we set out for, it was a great time. Love trying to find the right part at a good price.

Been going to Carlisle for many many years. I used to own a few GTO's. I sold the last one last year. If your looking for ammo when out there. Make a few stops at wal marts along the way.

I don't know why I didn't think of Wal-Mart...

If you couldnt find parts at Carisle..... then man, you must be looking for some rare stuff. That place is usually good for parts.....  especially compared to the thing they try and call a swap meet @ Englishtown ......

^^ +1  You could literally get all the parts there to build a car from the ground up.

I used to work for a video production company and went out there 3-4 times a year to cover various things.  All of the events were a ton of fun, but I especially liked the motorcycle events.  Having a media pass gave me access to everything.  I kinda got into trouble there one year at the Corvettes event.  I talked some spectators into "encouraging" Corvette owners to burn rubber during the parade.  I got some great footage before the police showed up.

I see that they are now having an outdoors man/gun show in September, cool.

Next week, the Cabela's opens in Delaware for those of us south of the Mason Dixon Line.   From the outside, it does not look as big as the one in Hamburg.

I've been inside(via a friend in mgt) it's definitely not hamburg ...I think he said its half the size ..hamburg 200k sq ft or so ..and Christiana 110ksq ft .....but it'll be good to have one local .... And tax free shopping ...

Just got back from the Hamburg store...

There was NO .22LR whatsoever. All other calibers looked readily available.

I managed to pick up a bunch of .380 for about 70% of what I pay in NJ.

And the big winner... a new magazine for my P22Q!

And plenty of Mosin Nagants... one almost came home with me but there isn't enough room in the safe.
