revenger 473 Posted August 19, 2014 Washington post has a story about the ongoing carry case in which the stay expires on Oct 22nd. District politicians want more time to craft a law and by the sounds of it they are looking into something I have mentioned here before, They are examining states like Maryland, NY, NJ that have survived the circuit level of a citizen have to show "good cause" or "justifiable need" . So it looks like they will just copy and paste from laws like ours. go to NRA ILA for the link
jtd771 18 Posted August 20, 2014 I hope they take our law word for word. Let it get challenged in another district.
djg0770 481 Posted August 20, 2014 I hope they take our law word for word. Let it get challenged in another district. Completely agree. Use our BS law as a copy/paste and let's see it get skewered and grilled and overturned.

mipafox 438 Posted August 20, 2014 Take all the time they want. Take 10 years. 20 years. The stay should expire at the 90 day mark and they should return to permitless carry. Gura was gracious (if practical) agreeing to the 90 day stay. that's what they asked for, they got what they asked for, F-them after 90 days.
n4p226r 105 Posted August 21, 2014 I'd bet money the stay gets extended
mark_anthony_78 0 Posted August 21, 2014 It's funny how states/districts have no problem passing anti-gun legislation in record time (SAFE Act anyone)? But it takes FOREVER to draft something even remotely "pro" gun when they are forced to by the courts.
ryan_j 0 Posted August 21, 2014 I'd bet money the stay gets extended Probably not by Judge Scullin. The circuit would probably do it though. They may try to carbon copy MD, NYC or NJ but that is going to prove difficult since they relied on the Peruta decision. The decision also said that they must allow carry for self defense. NYC does not allow self defense as a reason to carry.
jtd771 18 Posted August 21, 2014 NYC does not allow self defense as a reason to carry. Apparently neither does NJ even if you've been kidnapped or directly threatened.
