1LtCAP 4,264 Posted December 17, 2014 hey guys......took my 227 to bobs last night. it had hit me that i've only ever put fmj through it, and at home i keep critical defense in it. so essentially, i blew 3 boxes of that through to be sure it'd cycle. the other thing, is that i keep a tlr2s mounted at home...and again, i'd never shot it with that mounted, although the gun feels extremely different balancewise with it on. that's how i shot it last night. the ammo cycled perfectly, and actually seemed much much more accurate than the fmj i normally run. it could also have been the loose nut behind the trigger...... when i run fmj, to be honest, it's whatever brand is cheaper, and almost always 230grain. the critical defense is 185 grain. what i'd noticed at the end of the night though, was that the muzzle blast had totally covered the lense of the light. is there something you guys do to keep the lights clean? High Exposure 5,668 Posted December 17, 2014 Coat the light with a little lube (I like Slip EWL) before shooting. When it gets dirty you can wipe off the lens with your thumb. When the lens is clean, re-apply. A light coating of lip balm or Vaseline works well too.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted December 17, 2014 For protection without distortion, use a coat of Ren Wax

Malice4you 627 Posted December 17, 2014 Any suppose someone already has some residue on their WML - then what might you guys suggest to remove it?

If that doesn't work, a little bit if toothpaste and some gentle polishing. This will scratch the lens, but a scratched men's may be better than the carbon build-up. A-Tech 8 Posted December 18, 2014 FIREclean...whether it's clean or dirty that's what I use. I have a FDE Glock 17 that started turning black near the muzzle. A minute of rubbing some FIREclean on there with a rag and it was good to go. I wipe it down with a touch of that stuff at every cleaning.
