Howard 538 Posted March 17, 2015 APRIL MATCH - Sunday 12th As many of you know, we have started to hold IDPA matches at RTSP. We held the first beta test match on March 1st. The massive snow, coupled with lots of new shooters made for a challenging event. Overall it went well although it ran rather late; and we have made some changes based on the test match. This will become a regular event that will normally take place in the evening the first Sunday of every month. We have moved the next match to April 12th, due to Easter falling on the 5th. Registration will be at shootnscoreit.com and will open at 7pm two Mondays before each match. The link for the next match can be found at: http://shootnscoreit.com/idpa/match/652/ Information on the stage description with pictures can be found at the above link as well. Based on our beta match we will be requiring any new IDPA shooters to take a mandatory training class before shooting their first match. That class will be held at RTSP Thursday evening before each match. It will be comprised of a roughly two hour classroom session followed by an hour on the range where participants will each get to shoot a sample stage covering most aspects of IDPA shooting. A copy of the new "new" rulebook which went into effect March 2nd may be found here: http://rtsponline.com/wp-content/uploads/x2gukat1wyt.pdf Feel free to ask question here or email me at [email protected]
Lalo 13 Posted March 17, 2015 Will this new mandatory training class cover the art of target taping and how to do so safely without injuring yourself?
Jon 264 Posted March 17, 2015 Open to non members of RTSP?
Howard 538 Posted March 17, 2015 Yes open to non-members and members alike, just like for USPSA at RTSP. Can't promise about the taping. That might take a second class. I found I cut my weak hand of the sharp edge of the cardboard target as I was taping the other day - so I think to be 100% safe while taping takes more range practice than classroom instruction Here is the link that explains what the class will provide: http://rtsponline.com/introduction-to-idpa/
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted March 18, 2015 It says registration is closed, is it full already?
Howard 538 Posted March 18, 2015 It says registration is closed, is it full already? No. It's only "closed" because it has not opened yet. We open registration at 7pm the second Monday before the match. So, it will open on Monday March 30th at 7pm - that way everyone has an equal shot at it. We limit it to 30 shooters, but there is the capability to add names on the wait list and a few spots usually open up as we get closer.
