Having Antique Long Gun Shipped Direct

Recommended Posts

PPU makes ammo for both of those calibers, so they are not "obsolete".
Though only occasionally and not made in the United States. They haven't made a batch of Lebel ammo for almost 2 years. I would say that isn't commercially available. The 9.3 Mauser I am not as familiar with but what about the older yet 11mm Mauser?

I have 8mm Lebel in stock and got it late last year or earlier this year.

We can't get judges to strike down clearly unconstitutional laws in this state, no one wants to take a chance with how these judges will interpret "commercially available". IMO, 11mm and the like are not commercially available, but this state has a long history of interpreting gun laws to fit their leftist agenda.

I couldnt find any anywhere last year. I looked beginning of summer and couldn't find any either. Sold my Lebels but may have bought a 1890 made in 1892 Carbine. I guess the question is has commercially available ever been defined? Being there is only one foreign manufacturer that only runs periodic batches that should make it not commercially available. 1871 Mauser I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Also bought a very rare Enfield No5 MkII grenade trials all matching one of a hundred made.

I don't think it's been defined - another fine example of NJ's vague gun lawns........

You would think that would default to the Federal level... which the ATF did put out a list of calibers that were labeled as Curios and Relics.

If that were the case...

Well there we go. That is good enough for me. Feds say it is obsolete ammo so it is.

Edit Dammit they have 7.62x54r on the list which clearly is commercially available. Same for some other calibers on the list.

Even still, how much does NJ give a s*** about what the Federal government says?

-Blackpowder guns are still considered a firearm.
-Airguns are still considered a firearm.
-FFL-03s are a FFL that can have firearms shipped to their home.

That is in the brown book that comes with the FFL-03 packet. Lot of fun stuff in there... like Automag pistols being C&R. Each day is one closer to me being able to use it as it should.

Well my dilemma was solved. I didn't win the one lot and the auction house screwed up on the other. Well they didn't exactly screw up. Seems a certain 450lb dealer from Virginia removed the absentee tags on lots. This way his obeseness would have less competition buying on Sunday.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
