  1. I think too much is put into "a gun that fits my hand". I know a LE firearms instructor who's trained 1000s of new LEOs, most of which never shot a gun before. He believed, as I do, you can learn to shoot a gun well that has a grip like a 2x4 if you work at it. Keep in mind, many LEOs are required to carry what their agency says they can carry. For me it was a double stack 9mm for over 20 years. The agency eventually came up with a single stack option. When I retired there was exactly one agent out of a couple of hundred who opted for the single stack.
  2. I have a crime scene cleanup tote bag you can have. Perfect for going to Shop Rite!!!
  3. Once again, there was a threat to everyone there. The good guy shot the bad guy in the back was honorable. LE agencies have different rules of engagement on different levels. Last I knew NJ agencies almost had to spot the bad guy the first shot if the gun wasn't pointed at them. I know Federal agencies who had the policy if the bad guy had a gun in his hand, not pointed at you, you said drop it and they didn't do it in a microsecond, you shot him. This info is dated. Giving a bad guy a chance to drop the gun when people are in jeopardy will only result in someone getting hurt or killed.
  4. 1983 was during the conversion period from Cs to MREs. Ham and eggs were one of my favorites. Moreso if they were warmed up. Warming them up in hot water was the best way. Your, at least, 39 year old C rats sure beats my 25 year old C rats. C rat ham and eggs were never green. Powdered eggs from B rats were green. B rats were everything was canned but prepared by the mess section. I loved powdered eggs! Haven't had them since the 70s. I still like Spam which also came in B rats. 5lb loaves. The Vietnam War was responsible for the Vietnamese acquiring a taste for Spam. My brother recently spent 5 years in Saigon. Sent me a photo from a store in Saigon. Yes, officially its Ho Chi Minh City but everyone in the south call it Saigon. The airline baggage tag is still SGN. Anyway, the only thing in the store with security tags were the cans of Spam!!!
  5. My error they were over 25 years old. The Luck Strikes were a bit mildew.
  6. I had canned C Rations in the late 60s thar had Lucky Strikes in a green pack. Lucky Strike stopped making the green pack in 1942. These Rations were at least 45 years old. I'm not dead!!!
  7. If you buy the condensed get the Chicken Noodle. More calories than the Tomato. Never tried the condensed soup (other than the minestrone) without water. I'm sure it wouldn't kill me to eat a can of Chicken Noodle without water in it!!!
  8. Each can of soup gives you a meal. The Campbell's requires water, the Progresso doesn't. However don't dismiss the condensed soup. One of my favorite things in Vietnam was when my Mother would send Campbell's Minestrone. I ate it straight from the can!!!
  9. Now I can't tell from the video (but it looks bad for the shooter) but I always taught to shoot until the threat is neutralized. Just because a bad guy is down doesn't mean he still isn't a threat. I have questions about those last few shots. No problem shooting him in the back when he did. Someone mentioned the shooter didn't give him a "drop the gun" command. In what was in the video the shooter may have been dead if he did this. Shooting a bad guy in the back is not universally the wrong thing to do.
  10. Probably not shock and adrenaline. Whilst most of us on this forum have no experience with this (thank God) one needs to understand there are plenty of good people who can kill a bad guy then go home to play with their kids. I've been trained by a few of them. I'm not a Sniper, special operator or anything like that. I've only had the benefit of being trained by the best men of my time. In the military and as a LEO. They might seem nonchalant about having to kill someone. That's not the case. They were good guys who had to kill bad guys. Then they could home play with their kids, have dinner with their families, make love to their wife and it doesn't bother them they killed a bad guy a few hours before. These guys who are true gunfighters are not nuts. They knew what had to be done and did it for the benefit of our society. All of them said it was more a matter.of mindset than shooting skills when they trained snipers. These are the people Winston Churchill was talking about when he said, "We sleep safely at night because rough men are ready to visit violence on those that would harm us". Not sure if this guy fits in that category.
  11. Okay, that's not going to happen. Legislators, judges, the Governor, and others have qualified immunity. Before you fluff this off, if certain offices didn't have immunity who would take those jobs.
  12. I get my favorite wings at Klees on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights. Wings dusted with Cajun seasoning. Not drippy or messy but have a kick to them.
  13. I have been carrying a gun for almost 50 years. Over 30 years as a LEO. I know all this stuff is new to most of you. There will be 1000 encounters for each one you needed to pull a gun. Get a Kimber Pepper Blaster. Legal in NJ and NY. In NY you have to say you bought it there. FWIW for all of you who think cops are trigger happy. A cop, because of the training, will recognize a lethal force encounter before a civilian. For those naysayers Google police. Yes they are not civilians.
  14. You only need a silencer (look at the original patent application before you tell me it's a suppressor) if you're intending to whack someone. The Mossad has done great with Beretta M70s. BTW, the problem with Berettas with tip up barrels presents a totally alien immediate action drill. If you get a failure to extract and you pull back the slide you'll most likely wind up pulling the slide off the frame. You need to tip up the barrel, shake or pull the failure to extract from the chamber. As far as caliber I feel confident with my German 32 PPK. Hey it was good enough for James Bond!!! Some forum members have shot that pistol.
  15. That's the ejector. If you have that much brass on the breech, it's not clean. I have a 21A for over 20 years. After a break in it works almost 100% on MiniMags. Okay I said almost 100%. The first 100 rds run a 100%. The next 100 rds will have 5-6 failures to extract. If it doesn't extract the ejector will do no.good. I attribute this to getting dirty. This is not a Glock. Clean it after shooting if you want to carry it for social purposes. I have no issue carrying it after cleaning. I've carried this or a 950 in 25 ACP. I had a Walther TPH that would only give 50% reliability in the DA mode. A 21A will go off in DA. Not a SD gun IMO by choice but I have a story where it worked well. Ask me and I'll tell. Now I'll carry a mouse gun as my only SD. That's due to a variety of issues. However, I saw a video where a guy called mouse guns GTF off of me guns. If you pump 6 or 7 rds of 22s, 22lr, or 25 ACP into a target they're going to feel it. So if you intend to carry a 21A make sure it's clean. I carry Mini Mags solids. You need the penetration in a mouse gun. A 22lr hollowpoint penetrates as much as a 22s. A solid does better Remember, most encounters will require LTL. I carry a Kimber Pepper Blaster. Legal in NJ and NY. Although you have to swear it was bought in NY. So if you're carrying a 21A make sure it's clean and loaded with solids. WTF do I know. I've only been carrying guns for almost 50 years. Been a firearms instructor for almost 48.
  16. Just asking @1LTCAP couldn't a locksmith make a key from a VIN?
  17. Never saw one in person but they've been around since the 80s. https://www.thearmorylife.com/forum/threads/m14k-repro.13513/
  18. I'll take it but can't meet up with you until Wednesday or Thursday. I live in Berkeley Twp.
  19. TttTThaHaFWIW I've been carrying for almost 50 years. IWB, belt holster, whatever. I've concealed full size 1911s, 4" Service revolvers, and everything else under a tshirt. See @Displaced Texan post. He has the answer.
  20. Credit card means they can automatically renew. Not a bad thing in this case.
  21. Uh...you need a criminal defense lawyer not a gun lawyer. Napped toots his own horn a lot.
  22. I would go with 2 slices of Taylor Ham. Don't want to overpower the taste of the bacon and sausage.
