  1. Ron Paul supporters can get all excited over this but it will probably go where most of his bills he sponsored went. Note the number of sponsors that have signed on to it. Check his record in Congress.
  2. No extension but I would turn it back into the PD to help them keep their books straight.
  3. If a court does not rule a law unconstitutional it is still a law. That is the way the system works according to the Constitution. To suggest that most of the people on this forum are not Americans because they obey the law is quite an insult. How many acts of civil disobedience have you participated in lately? What unconstitutional laws have you been arrested for? Please do not not compare this to Rosa Parks. What Rosa Parks did was a cleverly calculated move on the part of civil rights groups and all their lawyers were well onboard and aware of what was going to happen before Rosa Parks stepped on that bus knowing she had a lot of backing. Make sure you know your history before you start comparing.
  4. You don't have to go that far back. Early on most of the stuff coming down the Ho Chi Minh Trail was transported on bicycles. These weren't your typical Schwinn but cargo bikes designed to carry up to 500 lbs or so. The trail was improved and eventually trucks replaced most but not all the bicycles. Bicycles were used in warfare since about the Boer War. the Brits had a folding bike for paratroopers in WWII.
  5. There is ammo that costs less and ammo that costs more and ammo that costs too much and ammo that is crap. Some of that "cheap range ammo" you may use are overruns for military contracts and could just as well wound up in some soldier's or marine's rifle in Iraq or Afghanistan. I have never seen a need for "premium" ammo other than falling for the manufacturer's advertising. I've seen millions of rounds in my time and saw just as many defective rounds come from "premium" ammo" as "cheap range ammo" on a percentage basis. I'm talking rounds wqithout primers, crushed case necks, deformed bullets, no flash hole in the brass, etc. I've even seen "LE" shotgun ammo come without any shot in it. You do need to inspect your ammo before you shoot it and do a closer examination if you are using it to carry. A FMJ that ends the fight does the same job as that premium SD ammo. Too many people think you need to spend $2 a round to defend yourself with. Okay, rant over.
  6. I think they changed that rule, from the TSA website: "Travelers should remain in the area designated by the aircraft operator or TSA representative to take the key back after the container is cleared for transportation"
  7. There is no registration of any firearms legally acquired elsewhere and brought into the state. NJSP used to file P2P when they came in. At some point they started computerizing it. these records go back to the 1970s. If GRIZ buys a gun from Maks it is taken off Maks' record noting t was transferred to GRIZ and entered on GRIZ's record. They may destroy the P2P after that but there is a registration. There is registration of every handgun transferred on a P2P.
  8. Just opening a business in one of those towns doesn't automatically qualify you for that low tax. In order to qualify for the low sales tax an employer has to follow a bunch of rules from the state, including where you get your employees from.. A friend has a business in Elizabeth and he refuses to let the state tell him more than they already do and he has to collect 7%.
  9. I've carried a J or 2 1/2 K frame and 380s appendix. Anything bigger digs into your crotch or stomach. if you have a gut it gets in the way and won't be comfortable.
  10. Keep in mind the grip frame of the L frame was made to round butt K frame dimensions so any K frame grip will also fit.
  11. I've shot all kinds of 223 and 5.56 from my Saiga with no issues other than carying degrees of accuracy.
  12. NJSP only requires you to be fingerprinted once. Towns can have a local requirement. I have lived in 8 towns in NJ and have only been fingerprinted once.
  13. I'd forget the smaller frame revolvers (K framess, SP101, etc) some people are talking about. Along with the smaller grip they also weigh less which will give you more felt recoil. You could probably deal with it but I'd hate to buy for you another gun and find out it won't work for you. Try round butt K frame grips on your husband's 686. This usually worked for most women when I was a LE firerams instructor. The GP100 has the most potential as it doesn't have a grip frame like other guns. This makes it the easiest to make grips for as the grips only have to accomodate the mainspring housing which is a loty smaller than any grip frame. The GP100 also has the weight to absorb the recoil. As far as the trigger pull goes, yes it can be lightened but you might find yourself with light strikes on some types of ammo. More reliable is to build up your hand strength with a hand exerciser or tennis ball. It doesn't take much to accomplish this. Too many people look for light triggers as a crutch for their inability to develope basic marksmanship and conditioning skills. One of the best shooters in my office when I retired was a 4-10, 85# woman who could outshoot most be it with a revolver, Glock, or M16.
  14. Its not only firearms law but all law. State law cannot contradict Federal. NJ couldn't say convicted felons can own firearms for example. State law can however be more restrictive. The whole pistol permit thing for example. The only way that's going to be done away with is if the NJ Legislature changes the law (not likely) or its appealed to the SCOTUS as not being a "reasonable restriction".
  15. I've always seen it called secondary explosion effect (SEE). http://africanxmag.com/secondary_explosion_effect.htm Here's one link and as Parker said Google it and you'll get a lot more. I have heard it discussed when using small charges of fast burning powder in a big case (Bullseye in a 38 spl) and reduced charges of ball powder (W296 for example). I have witnessed it in a reduced charge of ball powder in a 270. No it wasn't an overload as a normal load just about filled the case.
  16. This is not the first time I've heard of this. http://www.nytimes.com/1997/04/18/us/2-customs-agents-shot-at-the-mexican-border.html The link doesn't tell the entire story. One of the inspectors was shot in the mouth, the bullet hit his teeth and took a 90 degree turn, exiting the bottom of his jaw, and lodging in the flesh of the inspector's chest (didn't penetrate the breastbone). The bg used a 380. The inspector hit the BG 3 times, killing him. Not quite the same but a friend of mine in Vietnam was yawning when a AK round entered his mouth at an angle and exited his cheek. It didn't touch his teeth. He was in the hospital for a week or so, back at battalion for light duty fow a few weeks and back in the field in about a month. There is someone who watches after the good guys.

    Am I wrong

You'll find nothing in Nj statutes that say anything about C&R. As long as you keep the stock non-detachable magazine with the SKS anything goes. However you still need to pay attention to 922r requirements.
  18. I do know the difference between a right and a privilege and never said veteran's preference is unconstitutional being that the rest of my response would be off topic I will PM you.
  19. I don't know why more young people don't take advantage of this. They always need lieutenants as those that don't stay in leave when their commitment is over. As long as you go to a state school your tutition is free from the state. There are Federal benefits that will help repay your student loans.
  20. Special K, the fact is society has always given certain rights or privileges to specific classes of people for various reasons. There are certain rights or privileges that you have that every citizen doesn't. You are entitled to veteran's preference with civil service jobs. The federal government and all the states have this in one form or another. NJ even lets your spouse use it if you don't. Do you feel that any veteran who used this to take a job away from someone more qualified is a scab of some sorts? I don't have any hidden agenda behind this comment. I'm merely pointing out to you that giving certain groups privilege is nothing new.
  21. This importation has nothing to do with Korean War Vets, ROK has been wanting to sell these rifles in the US for sometime. The US position was that we loaned them the rifles and as such they could not be reimported for commercial sale. The only option was to return them to DoD who would probably wind up sending them to CMP. ROK felt they were a gift and they could sell them. The current administration finally decided to allow them to be imported. They must want a favor from the Koreans. IIRC the $220 price was what ROK was selling them to the importer for. They will be $600-700 by the time they go from through importer, distributor, and dealer.
  22. You are correct, cops have the attitude. Non-cops (okay if i say that?) never have attitudes.
  23. I'm retired and spent most of my career as a LEO with the Federal government. I have no problem with someone over 21 and elgible to buy a handgun carrying it. 21 as I'm sure we would all agree there is a big difference in maturity between 18 and 21. I'd most likely agree to let active duty military 18-20 carry also. I'm all for Constitutional Carry as long as prohibited persons get actual jail time if they are caught carrying.
  24. People wonder why cops sometimes take a them and us attitude. Read DA's first post for a reason. He does everything better than any cop except drive. I need to check out if guys on race driver forums bash cops on their driving like guys on gun forums bash cops about everything related to guns. DA, according to your first post, "you gotta be an idealist, a moron, or a power-hungry jackass to be a cop." There isn't a single word about any good cops.
  25. The fact is you probably won't hear anything as auditory exclusion in this type of situation is a fact. Several years ago a few LE agencies did penetration tests with 223/5.56 vs 9 mm out of a MP5 in building materials. The 223 pentrated less than the 9 mm from the MP5. SP or HP penetrated less of course. Hatcher gives all the reasons when he tried a 44 mag and 30-06 back in the 50s (30-06 penetrated less).
