Out of State Single Pump Pellet Gun Purchase
JC_68Westy replied to this_is_nascar's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't matter if they do. -
The one issue that flies in the face of this is the legalization of marijuana in certain states. I haven't seen any challenges by the Federal gov't to the action by these states.

Where should I buy my reloading press??
JC_68Westy replied to 124gr9mm's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
I have to say that this thread really got me thinking about the Hornady LNL AP. I know that I spoke about my Dillon earlier without ever having used a LNL AP. I did a lot of reading of reviews and videos online and the LNL AP looked like a well built machine. Having a lot of Cabelas bucks in my Cabelas account, I decided to order the Hornady LNL AP with spares and accessories using just the Cabelas bucks. The press arrived two days ago and I mounted it on my bench last night. I will continue setting it up and load some .223 this weekend. I have to say that it is very well built. The ram is giant and I like the grease fitting locations. -
Where should I buy my reloading press??
JC_68Westy replied to 124gr9mm's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
I couldn't agree more. I have many presses, the blue ones are the only ones that are here to stay (in addition to my Rockchucker for single stage). I spent way too much time with other presses trying to tweak them. Dillon presses are really well made and easy to keep running smoothly. -
I stopped by my local gun shop the other day to pick up some sights for my G20. I handled a few guns, but the one that really surprised me was the Ruger American Compact in 9mm. Does anyone have any experience with it. They are $349 at the shop. Cheap enough to buy without getting any opinions and no hassle because no state requirement for permission slip anymore. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with these.

Cabelas has the Trijicon RMR on sale for $349, backorder only. That is a great deal. I also have a Burris Fastfire III that works well. I originally got it for turkey hunting but now have it mounted on my 300AAC pistol.

That price is terrible, the MSRP is $699. I would get a K6S for $100 more.

10mm and 357 Sig, making a comeback?
JC_68Westy replied to Ray Ray's topic in Ammunition & Reloading
I have guns in both 10mm and 357Sig. I can't say when the last time I shot the 357Sig, but now that I live in bear country I carry the G29 or G20 quite a bit. I have wheel guns that are more powerful, but the Glocks are very light for hiking. I have found that 10mm ammo is much more available now than I experienced in the past with a lot more options. There are also a lot more 10mm guns being made. -

Speed camera ticket from MD - can it affect a NJ registration?
JC_68Westy replied to DirtyDigz's topic in General Discussion
I would pay it to avoid any possible future issue. To me, $40 isn't worth fighting over for anything. -

The worst crash in our lifetime is coming
JC_68Westy replied to remixer's topic in General Discussion
Your $100 dollars in 1975 would be worth $465.19 today according to http://www.dollartimes.com/inflation/inflation.php?amount=1&year=1975 I can't vouch for the accuracy, but it sounds right to me. -
I wouldn't get over being concerned about what an agency carries. These things change, sometimes quicker than you think. I think it is more important to consider things like pay, upward mobility, variety of duties, etc.

I have been out of the game for a while. It was at least 6 or 7 yrs ago when I saw the Glock. They said the H&K was horrible in a salt environment.
-
I have worked with CBP marine guys that used the Glock 23. They said the H&K corroded in the salt water environment. I was used to seeing the H&K, but it did surprise me to see Glock. Not sure if this is still the case.

Shooting a bear on your property
JC_68Westy replied to Averagejoeshmo's topic in Hunting, Fishing & More
450' is just for hunting. Check your local ordinance to see if your town allows discharge of firearms. -
Operator vs. Competition shooter
JC_68Westy replied to louu's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
I agree, using the term "operators" means 1ST SFOD-D, SEAL, MARSOC, etc. These guys shoot more and have trained/fought more than anyone I can think of. I have a friend that is retired 1st SFOD-D and has shot more and fought more than most of us ever will in our lifetimes combined. -

JC_68Westy replied to Averagejoeshmo's topic in Hunting, Fishing & More
Your own property does not count for the 450' rule. In addition, you can get permission from neighbors to hunt with 450'. This has to be during a hunting season with a valid license, etc. -
I couldn't be more happy with my mini split system.
-
I would look into ductless mini split if running ductwork would be an issue. I just installed ductless mini split in my house here in VA and love it. Super quiet and efficient (21 seer). The system is also has a heat pump.

Keep in mind that extensions are at the discretion of the chief. They do not have to extend a permit, they may. Most do, not all.
