  1. It looks like there will be 18" and 22" versions available.
  2. +1 on the Magpul buis. I only use the sights for slugs.
  3. Once you get a copy I would have the DD-214 entered as an archived document at your county clerk office. The service is free and they will provide certified copies at no charge. The document is not available for public viewing because of the personal info on it.
  4. There is no requirement to have veterans status on your DL. It is voluntary, a veteran that wants the vet designation put on their DL needs to bring their DD-214 to the MVC to have the designation added. Many are unaware of this.
  5. I personally saw a guy kill 2 Russian boars in TN with a 20ga slug. The slug passed through the first one and almost passed though the second. He used a Lightfield slug. Plenty of power and penetration with a sabot slug.
  6. I have hunted hogs and agree with everyone that recommends not to use an AR in .223/5.56. Of course they can kill, but I believe in using the tool that will provide the quickest, cleanest kill. I have used .308 and it works great. Next time I am using a 44 magnum. If you do choose to use a .223/5.56 I would recommend a solid copper bullet like the 70 grain Barnes TSX or the Winchester Razorback 64 grain XT. Both will penetrate well. Normal .223/5.56 range ammo will fragment too early. The solid copper bullets do a lot of damage.
  7. I believe that Shooters is in District 9, not 2
  8. I have a BakFlip G2 on my Nissan Frontier and love it. They are very secure. I have a friend with a rollup cover and his isn't nearly as strong.
  9. I wouldn't pay more than $300-$400 for any 1911A1 that I handled on active duty. We were all glad to get the M9, at least they were accurate and didn't rattle. I love the 1911, just not the broken down ones that I shot on active duty.
  10. +1,000,000. This forum is extremely negative to any new voices. I don't see why anyone would waste the time writing updates when they are attacked from the very beginning.
  11. Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns. Have seen them live a few times, great party band that plays rock and funk. They do weddings. http://www.shortylongrocks.com/welcome/
  12. Went to JT Custom Guns and Collectibles to pick up two long guns purchased on Gunbroker. The process was very smooth and organized. Very fair price and good conversation.
  13. No on the handguns for trapping. Here is the wording from the digest: "Licensed trappers and in possession of a valid rifle permit may carry a .22 caliber rifle and use only .22 caliber short rimfire cartridges to kill legally trapped animals other than muskrat. Firearms may not be loaded with more than three rounds"
  14. I disagree with your statement that shotguns suck at almost everything. Shotguns are the only thing I would use for hunting waterfowl or any other flying/climbing/running (small) animal. Shotguns are also excellent stoppers at home defense/self defense distances. They are a fine tool for putting a lot of energy on target in a rapid manner. 9 pellets of 00 buck weighs about 1 oz. This delivers more than 1500 ft/lb of energy per shot. I am not saying it is the best option, I just disagree with your statement that they suck.
  15. I have personally seen the CO in my area checking for licenses at the WMA range.
  16. I would recommend patterning the load you bought. I have found that 3" loads pattern much better than 3 1/2" loads in all of my 12ga guns. The only gun I have that patterns 3 1/2" loads really well is my Browning Gold 10. You may find that the load you bought works great or it may have big holes in the pattern. The only way to find out is to pattern on paper from the distances you plan on shooting.
  17. The absolute worst .22LR ammo I have ever used for all of the above mentioned causes. Remington could improve these by 50% and they would still suck.
  18. Changing from BZO to 500m or any other range requires turning the rear sight elevation to your known settings. No need to re-zero. This is where actually putting in the time with the irons (training) becomes a major advantage. I am not a purist by any means, I really like the ACOG, can't stand some of the other optics. This is meant to be a counterpoint to the specialized gun mentality. vladtepes, the iron sighted A2 is designed to be used at any range and the sights can be rapidly adjusted, no need to run with a bunch of guns strapped to your back. Again training with the weapon system to a high level of proficiency is the key.
