I think that you are focusing on self defense only. I guarantee that I can outshoot you with an AR at 500m with an A2 iron sights and you using an Aimpoint zeroed at self defense ranges. It is all relative.

I believe that NJ does not distinguish between concealed or not. It is a carry permit.

I completely agree. How many denials compared to the 1200 or so permits. Are people really afraid of having to answer yes to whether or not they have been denied a permit to carry? I am willing to give it a shot.

Tech Sights are great. I have them on a 10/22, works really well teaching a new shooter.

I have hunted a fenced property that totaled 3400 acres in Tennessee. 150 is pretty small. I would also recommend not excluding dog hunts. I will eventually be doing a dog/knife boar hunt.

Finding a close place to hunt hogs with no fencing is going to be real tough. All of the really good places have fences because feral hogs are invasive and destructive and must be contained. Turkey hunts need to be in accordance with game laws (licenses, zones, etc).

I shoot an Excalibur and couldn't be happier with it. The most accurate and low maintenance crossbow made. I really like simplicity of the recurve. You can change the string yourself without needing a bow press.

I wonder if that is a gas operated, if not, then how could this possibly be a no go? If not gas operated, then action is not identical in any way to a USGI M1 carbine.

I have a bunch of shotguns, my defensive shotguns are 870, 590A1, 500, Winchester 1200 Defender, Benelli M1S90, Benelli Nova Tactical, and KSG. I bought the KSG last month and absolutely love it. I don't know how it is any easier to short shuck than any other pump. It works great for me. Thinking about shedding a couple of the others.

+1, never had a problem using NJ hunter. There is a lot of action in those classifieds.

That range is 4 1/2 miles from my house and I stopped shooting there a long time ago. People are pigs. Why should the F&W be responsible for cleaning up crap that people leave? I always cleaned up after shooting. I have seen a whole group of people come shoot and leave their empty shell and boxes there. What is so hard about taking your trash with you for some people?

Were you aware on the day that PA stopped recognizing your non-resident permits that they were no longer valid in PA? This was not widely advertised. Many resources on the web were a few days behind the PA change. How could you possibly keep abreast of all administrative code changes? This is a prome example of when to use discretion (both the trooper and the prosecutor)

I buy steel loads by the case. It is about $10 more per case than 3 1/2" 12ga steel

I would be hesitant to shoot 10ga steel through an older full choked gun. With older barrels modified choke is normally considered the tightest you should go with steel loads.

I like the Excalibur crossbows. They are recurve and very simple in design. You can change the string yourself. The new Matrix series is available with models up to 405 FPS.

I wonder how many people in NJ have applied for a Permit to Carry a Handgun. I know there was talk about a mass application, but then I heard nothing. It is hard to prove a de facto ban if there aren't people being denied a permit.

I normally use 12 ga 3" #2 or #3 for ducks, 3 1/2" in 12 ga doesn't pattern well for me. 10 ga BB or BBB for geese.

It is perfectly legal to yell "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater when there is a fire. There is no prohibition on the word "FIRE" in NJ (yet).
