  3. I use Rob Stone of Hometown Firearms LLC. He's located in Stratford, NJ . Transfers are $42.80, tax and NICS fee included. 856.258.8100 [email protected]
  4. H.E. hit the nail on the head. Everyone needs a new upper to morph into a new rifle! In terms of accuracy advantages, the free floated barrel has a slight advantage off the bench. In practical terms, it's not overly significant.
  5. Sure....NOW they go on sale! Right after I bought a USP Compact..... My luck strikes again!
  6. That carry handle looks suspiciously like a Chinese airsoft copy. It has no forge marks on it like every other carry handle I've ever seen or owned. I would suspect that is your problem.
  7. Like I say, I've never had issue seating a full mag in my G22 ever, even when new. Mine is an older Gen 3 purchased early 2000. Possibly they redesigned the mag catch or the mags since then.
  8. I knew it had to be with a full mag. Tried it again and it worked. Slide went into battery, with a full mag (snap caps). I repeated the test several times to make sure I wasn't hitting the slide release with my thumb when I smacked it. I guess I didn't hit it hard enough last night to make it work, although I've NEVER had to use ANY force to load a full mag into my G22. Trying to figure out why the OP is having to force his mag into the magwell. Maybe it's inexperience with the pistol, maybe I'm missing something reading his post.
  9. Did you say something? I was a bit distracted by the blonde with the pistols....
  10. Just tried this with my Glock 22 Gen 3, using a new mag. Mine did not drop the slide even after smacking it on the baseplate multiple times.
  11. It is a Compact .40. I figure if I don't like it I'll turn around and sell it.
  12. I'm used to Glocks and 1911's. I'm sure there will be a learning curve but I'm sure I'll be able to train my brain fairly quickly. Thanks for all the advice, gentlemen! Jeff
  13. Thanks guys, just bought it for $650. I appreciate your advice and help.
  14. I use a Z-360 mount and convertable 1/2 point sling, both from Tactical Link on my Colt 6940 carbines. One QD goes on the forward rail, the other on the Z-360 mount, or optionally on the QD attachment on my stock. Very pleased with this setup. http://www.tacticallink.com/Z-360-Sling-Mount-GEN-2.html http://www.tacticallink.com/AR15-M4-Convertible-Sling.html
  15. Thanks guys! What's a decent price on a VGC used USP Compact?
  16. Anyone have any feedback on the H&K USP Compacts? I handled one years ago but never shot one. My FFL has one and I'm on the fence about it, permit burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks! Jeff
  17. Im not saying that BRO doesnt make quality rifles, I'm just saying that until they have a 'pedigree', I'll stick with those that do. I held the same feeling with BCM, DD, and others when they were newcomers to the AR game. It was quite awhile before I felt there was enough 'proof in the pudding' to spend my money on their products. Time will tell with BRO.
  18. i ordered the PSA Premium BCG 2 days before the sale. Typical of my luck.
  19. If you were closer, I'd offer to let you shoot my Colts before you make a decision of what to buy.
  20. The Colt has a monolithic upper receiver, free floating barrel, with flip up front sights. Outstanding rifles. I have 4. The S&W is a nice rifle, but not in the same class as the Colt.
  21. Spot on. I like to read some gun mags just to see what's new and shiny, but like High Exposure, I put zero trust in anything they say. I buy AR's based on my experiences with what works, from companies with proven track records, such as BCM, Colt, DD, LMT, ect. I tend to stay away from the 'AR parts builder' guns that seem to pop up everywhere, although I do have a 20" Govt upper from PSA that I'm pretty happy with. Jeff
  22. Congrats on your Colt! I'll echo what I've said previously, the Colt monolithic uppers are awesome. I imagine you will be very happy with your new rifle.
  23. Try Bangers Sport Shop in Winslow. Not far from Paul's old place.
  24. The Colt Carbine is not a genuine Colt product, it is made under license by Anderson Mfg in Kentuckey. It does not use genuine Colt parts, nor is it in any way, shape, or form a true Colt. The Colt Carbine (6900) was designed to get into the entry level market and compete alongside the DPMS Oracle and S&W Sport model rifles. The MSRP is $899, so $1200 is WAY too much money for that rifle. The M4 carbine (6920) is a true Colt, made in Harford, Ct, built from mil-spec Colt parts. $1400 is a bit high, they can be had new these days for $11-1200, but it depends on what this one comes with. If it has mags, ammo, optics, ect, it may be worth it. As has been pointed out already, you will have to neuter is to comply with NJ laws. The Colt 'MT' series of rifles come NJ ready right out of the box. They are always more scarce and expensive than the 6920/6940's, because they cater to a smaller market. It is cheaper and easier to buy a 6920/6940 and have it made compliant to NJ laws. ADCO does a very nice job of doing this at a relatively reasonable price. I'm sure there are FFL's in NJ who will do this as well. Jeff
