  1. Why lie about it? It wasn't an accident, so to lie about it only makes the firearms community look worse. Instead it's a much better idea to stand up and call it what it is, and emphasize that the actions of one do not represent the actions of many.
  2. It's probably quicker to just go pick the forms up. If they have window hours, you may miss them if you wait too long. A change of address is common, I did one several years ago. It shouldn't take too long. Just try to get an estimated time for completion, and try to get your license changed around the same time. I don't remember if matching address is a requirement, but I know that some people care.
  3. Well then by that logic, an AR with a collapsible stock and an 11.5" barrel is a pistol.
  4. I wasn't commenting on whether or not you were allowed to ask the question here, I was commenting on your resourceful use of the internet.
  5. This is a gun forum, not a vehicle specific vehicle forum. That being said, here: http://bit.ly/1xreg5k
  6. I've done a bit of reading on this before, my hitch almost got stuck. Aside from having the entire hitch assembly blasted and repainting it, keeping a layer of fluid film in there should help prevent that from happening again. That, as well as not having the ball mount in the hitch assembly when you're not using it.
  7. Well in that case, don't ask someone a legal question unless they're a lawyer. If the entire site told people to go ask a lawyer every time someone posted a legal question, then this site would be dead.
  8. ^I wasn't aware that they were sued. Interesting.
  9. Last time I walked into a NYS gun shop (which was ~3 months ago), the M1A's needed to have their flash hiders cut off.
  10. I'm a little rusty on NJ gun laws. Is it required that they cannot grant the extension until after the initial 90 period is over? Maybe they just got tired of people coming back in for extensions.
  11. I'm not sure where you're getting this from, however I've consistently seen MUCH more accurate information here for your generic "is this legal" question than I see at your average FFL. It's not uncommon to walk into regular gun shops and hear people talking about "Greater than 10 round 'clips' being illegal". Most of the reputable FFL's that you'll find in this state are also most likely a vendor on this site. Information that's posted on this site is consistently correct, and when misinformation is posted it is normally contested rather quickly. I can't read Paul's mind, however I think the facepalm he used was directed towards the OP being unnecessarily afraid of bringing just a threaded barrel into an FFL.
  12. You said .308 rifle, therefore it's safe to assume you're talking about the SCAR-17. There's not too many things comparable between an AR and a SCAR-17, other than the fact that they're both semi-automatic rifles. There was a detailed review that someone posted a link to a while back, the internals of even a SCAR-16 are much beefier than an AR. If the mags or price point are an issue, then so be it...that's understandable. However don't discount the SCAR-17S because you think it's the same as an AR, because it's not.
  13. I'm curious as to why you said it's useless compared to a standard AR. Yes, he will pay extra to neuter the stock and other compliance issues. Mags may be a bit more expensive. It's still not the same as a standard AR though. He could look at the Sig 716, mags might be a little expensive, as I believe they may be proprietary. The M1A may be worth a look as well.
  14. Also they have listed a "Side x side coach gun", with an OU shotgun pictured. There's also a picture of a guy holding a similar looking OU shotgun, but no mention of it in the "guns" section. However the simulator looks like it may be somewhat fun, if it's not ridiculously overpriced.

Building a rifle, or at least the lower, may not seem as intimidating once you understand a bit of what's going on. Building the lower is quite easy, anyone with a basic mechanical understanding and an internet connection can do it.
  16. May not be as successful as if your Union had picked a different organization. There's even info in this thread about the scrutiny that the WWP is under currently.

The $200 difference between these two guns is mainly the gas system. You're paying $200 extra for piston gun, as opposed to a DI gun. Without even touching the reliability debate between the two gas systems, you are better off going with the DI rifle due to the reason stated earlier: Parts are essentially interchangeable between rifles. If something goes wrong with your DI rifle in several years, it will be much easier and cheaper to find the parts you need. That being said, you may be better off waiting to make a decision until you understand the platform better. That is not meant to be taken as an insult. Everyone here started with no knowledge of the platform, and learned from there. Once you're more educated on how the rifle functions, you can make much better decisions regarding what you want to do.
  18. I have shot an 870 with the Magpul furniture on it, and fondled several others (shotguns) that had the Magpul furniture. Close enough for the purposes of answering your question. It is surprisingly, and noticeably, more comfortable to shoulder than the factory stocks. The downside is that it turns an affordable pump shotgun into a quite expensive pump shotgun. My suggestion would be to buy the shotgun itself first. If you later find that you shoot it enough to justify spending an extra ~$115 on it, then you can jump on it.
  19. This. I was just about to comment on that. This is the best picture I could find to describe/support what you're describing.
  20. I messed up the buffer retainer spring once when I was changing out the buffer tube. I couple days later I was at a gun show, and found myself in front of a stand that assembled lowers. I asked if I could give them a couple bucks for one of their buffer retainer springs, and the guy handed me three for free. My suggestion is to try something similar. You don't necessarily have to find someone who sells the parts individually, just find someone who's a gunsmith and ask if you can give them a couple bucks for one.
  21. Oldie but goodie. Just a thought to keep in mind, WD-40, contrary to popular belief, is not that great of a lubricant.
  22. 1911, hands down. However, it's your money.
