  1. I did a quick read but didn't see where the law talks about using hollow point ammo at the range. All I saw was it's legal to possess while in transport to the range and to possess at the range. I believe that there is an obvious implication in the law that is you are legally allowed to possess something it means you are legally allowed to use it.
  2. Hopefully they will run away. I wouldn't venture out into the house myself. There is just the two of us. I'd call 911 and stay put with my wife in the bedroom.
  3. That tells me that no one got in trouble for using them in a valid HD situation. There are no (court) cases for legal things.
  4. The courts have basically thrown out the substantially identical part of the law and the AG instituted the evil features part to help define "substantially identical".
  5. It can slide around in the trunk. It just can't be loose in the passenger compartment. . ...shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile
  6. The law for intrastate NJ travel says fastened or locked in trunk. Fastened case is sufficient in NJ. I think FOPA says" locked case" for interstate transport.
  7. Get a fog free mirror, mount it in your shower and shave at the end of your shower. Gillette Mach 3 Power. No shaving cream required.
  8. I just bought this desiccant from Midway. A lot less expensive than the Remington. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/799452/hydrosorbent-silica-gel-desiccant-dehumidifier-40-gram-protects-3-cubic-feet-canister Your safe has about 6 or 7 cubic feet of volume. I throw one in my ammo boxes, too.
  9. I know the courts can still see it but you get to check the "no" box on the FID application about prior convictions. Don't know if all TROs show up or just ones where there was alleged domestic violence.
  10. Yup. You'll go to court and a judge will grant it to you most likely. Then you will check the box "yes" and write in that it was granted on appeal.
  11. Google how to expunge in NJ. NJ has a nice little packet and instructions so you can do it yourself. It takes about 6 months. To the OP, nothing you can do now but be a patient for a few more weeks.
  12. 20 cents a round was a good price on sale. $10 for a box of 50 fmj brass 9mm. $12 to $15 regular price.
  13. The man is an airman at the National Guard base in Harrison Township, Wickersham said. He went to the school after work and was met by a janitor at 6 a.m. and was told the counselors were not at work yet.
  14. According to the article, the non-student entered the school at 6am. Assuming this school runs on the same schedule as my local school, there would be no expectation of a counselor to be in their office at such an early time unless prior arrangements had been made. If you were the maintenance worker in a basically empty school what would you think if you encountered an intruder in your school at 6am and his reason for being in the school before any school staff was "I'm here to see someone"? That sounds suspicious. Calling the police sounds prudent.
  15. My guess is the dealer said it would be safe to return in 14 days to pick up the gun because by then the NICS would be back. The dealer probably said something along the lines of "You're definitely safe waiting 14 days to come back and pick it up. NICS has been taking a long time since December because of the Newtown shooting." No one can just go buy a gun and leave with it on the same day in NJ these days. It takes a few days to week from what I've read for the instant background check.
  16. Nappen is not some knight on a white horse. I fear his legal arguments are not well respected by the judiciary of this state.
  17. For various reasons in my professional life it's felt like I've fallen into the Twilight Zone. Now, this thread... The law as stated above is basically unenforceable due to a well known court case whereby the court found that it's beyond the ability of an average personto know if one firearm is substantially identical to another. Therefore, the evil features list was created. There is nothing illegal about a flash suppressor itself. You get one evil feature. Since that evil feature is usually the pistol grip, some people assume a folding stock or flash surpressor is illegal. They are just as legal as a pistol grip.
  18. You understanding is correct. This is one of those logic puzzles. Having the FID proves you are legal to own a long gun. But, not having an FID does not prove you are illegal.
  19. You can have only one evil feature. One. If you have pistol grip and flash hider, that is two. A threaded barrel is an evil feature. If you take off your flash hider and your barrel is not threaded, then you only have the pistol grip.
  20. I only use that lever as a slide lock. My M&Ps close by themselves when I seat the magazine or I sling-shot the slide. I had a chance to hold them both side by side and they both feel good. CZ gets a lot of love on the Internet but no so much in real life. A lot of shops don't stock them.
  21. The ranges I've been to have people taking pictures. Indoor ranges don't like the flash but people still flash and take pictures. The flash is annoying.
  22. They have, I think, 4 gun cases. 1911s and Sigs in one case, polymer guns like Glock, M&P, and XDm, the third case has small revolvers and the 4th has larger revolvers. The polymer gun case is empty except for some Caracals. The other cases have inventory.
  23. There is no mention in the law of who must do the alteration; only that it must be permanent so that the magazine holds (and feeds) no more than 15 rounds. .
  24. Punk shoots innocent victim. Gets 15 years. Some Amish guy cuts the beard of another Amish guy in a religious dispute. Gets 15 years. This is what is broken in our society. If you shoot someone for no good reason, life in prison. Beards grow back.
