FireARm Build and Picture Thread
skibum2 replied to nondisclosure's topic in Other Firearms & Non-NFA
Damn, that 10.5 is sexy af. Just to confirm...the A5 tube isn't really required for that build since you're at 27 3/4", correct? -
Ah, that explains it. Thanks.

Was this ever answered? How does MM achieve 26" with an 11.5" barrel? I though it falls just short of 26" from the end of the buffer extension.

Legal Status of Non-NFA Firearm AR Build?
skibum2 replied to Melancholia's topic in Other Firearms & Non-NFA
I can't justify spending over $1K on a new firearm right now. Is this PSA 11.5" good to go with a VFG? https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-11-5-5-56-nato-1-7-nitride-10-5-lightweight-m-lok-moe-ept-sba3-pistol-kit.html It appears that it is and if so I'll pull the trigger. -
My first AR...PSA build kit $399 + PSA lower. Can't beat the price and having a blast with it. Added AFG, Voodoo Jetcomp, Streamlight, Romeo 5 and Juliet 4.

Legal Status of Non-NFA Firearm AR Build?
skibum2 replied to Melancholia's topic in Other Firearms & Non-NFA
Folks really need to stop referring to this as a "loophole". That is just an invitation for the decision to be scrutinized and overturned. -
Costco in Union is selling several Jersey legal assortment packs varying from $50 to &180 or so.

Terribly written and senseless law. First it says it's a class 4 felony to possess them, then has exemptions for having them in your home or transporting them for sportsmen activities. So essentially the law only applies to the five people in the state with CCW permits. It is also silent on the use of the ammunition for home defense.

I read the NJSP link and it specifically mentions that they can be used for practice and hunting: Activities contained in N.J.S.A 26:39-6f. can be broken down as follows: A member of a rifle or pistol club organized under rules of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and which filed its charter with the State Police; A person engaged in hunting or target practice with a firearm legal for hunting in this State; A person going directly to a target range, and; A person going directly to an authorized place for "practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions." It does not mention self defense situations within your home. Would use of HP be considered lawful if used in a self defense scenario in NJ? Thanks

Any recommendations on motorcycle repair shops?
skibum2 replied to skibum2's topic in General Discussion
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I don't think I really have time for a project like getting the bike street ready again. I travel every week for work and there are too many other things I'd rather be doing on weekends. I will call some of the shops listed above and get some quotes. I'm of the opinion that the carb job, battery and fluid replacement are the only things I really need. I will probably replace the battery myself before sending it the shop. The tires look fine to me, but I'll have to look at them closer. I don't see any signs of dry rot, but I'd hate to find out the hard way that the rubber is brittle. The guy at JDS said that tanks tend to rust and flake on the inside, which is why he recommended the tank coating. I took a look with a flashlight and it looks like new to me. Old School: thanks. The bike has just under 13,000 miles and has been under a blanket for six years. She cleaned up pretty easily when I took her out. -
I have a 1988 Yamaha Radian (YX600) that hasn't been on the road in about six years. I am the original owner and the bike is in great shape. I'd like to get it back on the road, but the carbs will have to be cleaned, etc. I called JDS Cycle in Roselle Park and they said it would cost approximately $1000 to "do it right" (carbs, battery, clean/coat gas tank, tires, etc). I was hoping to spend more like $500. Can anyone recommend a reliable bike shop in North Jersey? Thanks,

Horrible experience with TargetSportsUSA - Banned for life
skibum2 replied to alec.mc's topic in General Discussion
LOL...here's another gem from the Ammo Nazi: targetsportsusa, Target Sports USA rep has responded “Hi Mr. FM, My name is Dajana Delmic, internet sales manager. I have tried to contact you several times via e-mail as well as over the phone in order to resolve this matter. Due to a non-response from your end, and time elapsed since we filed the claim with UPS, they (UPS) have closed the case. Your name is not Blocked, however based on your current review and untruthfulness, we will not accept any further orders from you. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. My direct phone line is 860-676-0610. Best Regards, Dajana Delmic TargetSportsUSA.com” -

Gearhog is a legit site. It is basically a "deal a day" site. I haven't bought from them yet, but I get their emails every day with their new deal. I don't see anything about the voucher; it says that it ships within 7 business days. -
Me VS Grand Master (Mike DiGennaro)
skibum2 replied to zoid's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
Another thing I noticed was the difference in recoil. I guess it's a combination of gun control and loads, but Mike's recoil was significantly less, which means he can get back on target quicker. Were you shooting factory ammo? -
Uspsa Classification... December Update
skibum2 replied to Maksim's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
Congrats Maks...not easy jumping up a class. I have a feeling I'll be in C for awhile. Luckily you can't go down a class, otherwise I think it'd be more likely that I would go to D than B. Of course, I really don't practice between matches (don't even dry fire) and the first time I ever shot a pistol was in March of this year. I need to spend some time at Bullethole this winter. -
