  1. I photoshop mine out - looks like the factory never put one on. Should be right above the trigger guard. And I should put a watermark on it, but that one has been posted a while.
  2. I have my own website and use it primarily as a host for pictures and files. It allows me to see statistics such as who is linking to what, as well as error logs for peple trying to access files which no longer exist. Files which have not been on my server for 10 years are still linked to/[attempted] accessed, and people all over the world access files I only shared with a small localized audience. It has reduced my sharing of my photography for sure, and I often will not share any high resolution photos of anything anymore. The other option is a large, annoying watermark covering much of the important areas of the photo so it is too hard to remove (instead of a corner watermark that can be cropped away or cloned out). I never really thought about my (gun) photos being used to scam people, but I am sure it is possible. I didn't even get to see the listing, it was flagged as a scam by the time I got to it, so at least they didnt get someone this time...
  3. PSG-1 has never quite done it for me as much as the MSG90. Wouldn't mind a PSG-1 either, just prefer the MSG90.
  4. Something I have wanted for many years is an Accuracy International AWM in .338 Lapua Magnum or .300 Win Mag. Alternative option AWP in .308 with 26" barrel. Or even AE in .308. Needing to pay to feed it, smart choice would be the .308. If I sold half of the guns I own, I might be able to afford the gun. The other half would have to go to afford the glass worthy of such a rifle. The other rifle that usually comes to mind right after the AI would be an HK MSG90. I have been a G3 variant fan for a while, and the MSG90 ticks off every checkbox I have for a G3...but as I just said, it also comes to mind AFTER the AI AWM/AWP. And runner up is always an MP5; a K, A4, or SD2. I have a .22 clone which is barely keeping me satisfied, but I want the real deal. Also ran, and most likely to actually own: Anschutz 54 action with TBD configuration, and/or Vudoo v22 action in AI stock. I need to admit I am a .22 junkie. I also have given serious thought to selling guns to buy a 54/v22 actioned rifle...it will happen, but when is the question.
  5. I've been running only Tire Rack tires since around 2005, at least 9 full sets plus at least another handful of pairs and single tires. I also always buy the road hazard warranty, which I have had to use at least 3 times. I only buy high performance tires because of cornering grip and stopping distance, at the cost of shorter lifespans - my summer tires averaged 15k miles, "winters" (all seasons actually) 20-25k miles, or about 2-2.5 "years" of use. What scares me is there are drivers who go for the 'buy 3 for $100, get the 4th tire free' deal driving on the roads with me, probably also who run the $29.99 brake special. Or the cars wearing 3 or 4 different brands of tires... I felt strange getting my first-ever sub-$100 tires the last set I bought ($94 each at the time BFGoodrich Comp-2 A/S), but they were phenominal performance, and I am buying more soon. Crap tires mean the difference between stopping safely and stopping a foot inside the trunk of the guy in front of you. There are so many things you can do cheap on a car. Tires are not one of those things.
  6. One of these days, I am going to best this picture. This has a sorely disappointing single scope, and while it does have 5 flashlights, I see no peq boxes, bipod, bayonet, grenade launcher, extra reflex sights, angled irons, or double mags. There is clearly room for more, and I am disappointed the original picture does not have more effort put into it, even with the poorly photoshopped additions. Of course, seeing how I don't own a majority of these things, it may be a while. How does one zero a night vision scope, anyway? Laser boresight? Or just lots of flicking a lightswitch and using a spotting scope? At least with inexpensive models, I know exposure to bright light can damage them, so you can't just go on an overcast day or to an indoor range (I think?).
  7. Because you have to do a background check out of state on a long gun purchase, can't see why that would have changed.
  8. I seriously wonder if no AGs or elected officials had made a big deal over this, if anyone would have even cared about the release of these files. By making a big deal, people have been MORE inclined to download them. Making them harder to access means people will seek out other alternatives and ways to find the files. Based on reactions, it seems like many were not aware of gun instructions being available online for many years. Now that they can't get em from DD, they are much more likely to come across the plans on other sites, as well as for plans like the sheet metal ar lower, sten plans, zip guns, or even the brass or aluminum can -based lowers. Maybe others didn't know about 80% lowers before, or AK or G3 or MP5 blanks. While not as easy as 'open file, print' - I suspect that making a huge deal out of this has opened the eyes of thousands of people who might decide now is a good time to start a fun new project and make their own gun.
  9. Or for those of you with a little more experience ( @Bully ), there is always this method...I find both these videos fascinating to watch, and I wish I had the know-how, cause I would absolutely rock either of these if I could make them myself...
  10. You are under no such obligation inside your home if you are in fear for your life or the life of others. Once the threat is gone, then you can't go after them; if you just finished cleaning your gun in the kitchen and a bad guy breaks in, sees you there, and runs off, you can't chase him down or shoot him in the back (note, the wife threatening to kill you for getting oil on the table may not hold up well as a threat, even though she may be more dangerous to you than the burgler.) However, if you are always carrying at home and a guy with a knife breaks in and advances, even after shouting to leave/stop/etc, there is nothing saying you must retreat if in fear for your life - drop him. It takes a second to close 20 feet. Same if you hear an unusual noise in your kids room, you aren't going to say "must be nothing, can't do anything about it anyway" On your property, outside the house, MAY need to retreat if possible, and would depend on circumstances, but the fear for your life and life of others will again come into play... Please do some research on the subject and verify for yourself. NJ laws are rediculous, but EVEN NJ is not dumb enough to say you must be cowering in a closet before you can defend yourself or others. Spreading these fake "laws" is dangerous and may prevent someone from legally defending themself in their own home.
  11. Someone (elsewhere) mentioned the aluminum bolt-together AR lower plans out there. That sounds more like a fun project for a free state...and other than some screws potentially coming loose, probably a lot more reliable. ;-)
  12. If someone downloaded all the files from defcad on the 29th, is there any difference from contents of those files vs what would be available tomorrow? Or did defcad just release everything early? Is bm59 a 3d printer instruction file? Or did you mean beretta m9? I still get a 503 error on trying to access thru a couple proxy servers, so there is either a huge demand, or someone is intentionally doing something like DOS attacks. I get the feeling there are a lotta people accessing the site and server can't keep up. Which makes me happy, all those plans out there, in the hands of thousands more people...even if it was always out there, now even more people have it and can share it...
  13. Does anyone know if these files will be added to tomorrow? Everything says August 1st, but with the files already available, what is special about tomorrow? Are these just the cad files now, and 3d printer instructions are added to the files tomorrow? Or is everything just already thrown in? Their faq said something about using freecad to view IIRC.
  14. DAMN YOU NEW JERSEY! FOILED AGAIN! That 5 extra seconds of visiting a proxy site first is really gonna stop everyone!
  15. Thermite laughs off rain...
  16. I pulled in really late (I thought), and had to stop and see if I had the wrong date somehow. Was only a few people there. Was beautiful weather, I can't hit shit, and good to see everyone. Had fun withthe rimfire range too.
  17. A photo of Boonton, NJ's returning World War II veterans. Now, obviously I did not take this photo, but I was asked to scan this for my grandfather. Since the printed copy of this photo is - I believe - sold by the VFW, I have severely decreased the quality and size in this upload, but I felt it was too cool a picture not to share. Print I was provided is 40x8", and I believe this is still on display at the VFW in Boonton (without the numbers). Contact them if you are interested in obtaining a copy.
  18. So that is an unaltered screenshot taken directly from Firefox tonight. Missing everything between Announcements and Optics & Accessories (which the last post was by raz-0). Second time tonight the forum did this to me (First time, it looked like cleaning up for sale had its own new section). A refresh of the page clears it, but strange nonetheless... Win7 x64, Firefox 61.0.1 64 bit
  19. Likely in +1, pending my friend's work schedule. I have a license too, but only have a hand thrower. Should lend that to the resident hand thrower expert, @Ms. 12 Gauge
  20. It may cost more to build your own, but you also get to select the components. For example, off the shelf systems are not as likely to have memory with faster memory timing - something I have opted for since my first performance pc had pc100 RAM. It costs more, and most people wouldn't notice, and most people would think 16gb is 16gb, but there is a small difference in performance. The downside is compatability - if I select memory that doesn't like my motherboard, thats on me to deal with it. There is only manufacturer's warranties, so I would have to talk to Asus or Corsair or whoever to deal with the problem. I hate the bloatware installed on prebuilts. I dislike the often built-to-a-price specs and components of prebuilts. They do get volume pricing for everything and I do not, but I will spend more for quality I know will last. Obviously a high spec pre built machine these days will be pretty decent, but I will still always build my own. That is one reason I hate laptops, damn things always die in a few years, are typically underpowered (at least compared to same gen desktop cpus), and I can't easily go in and fix things. To me, building the system is one of the best parts of getting a new PC.
  21. Thats why you use a different browser...
  22. Do these qualify as *really* high brass shells then? There was some recent "defensive" gimmick shell that used full brass shells and a segmented expanding slug which at least looked cool in PR pictures, despite not working any differently (or possibly worse) from regular slugs, yet costing 5 or 10x more. Was made by "oath ammo".
  23. Part of a radioactive spider egg which was filled with thousands of babies. Last time I saw this was in '04, still have nightmares bout that week. Hopefully, you have a flamethrower and know at least 3 members of the Colombian special forces, too. Good luck.
  24. At $130 a brick, i tend to stick to bricks still...
