  1. Hi Point Carbine FTW! Should be able to get 2 each of the 9mm, .40, and .45 for the $1800 of the Tavor. Or one in your choice of caliber and a sh!t ton of ammoe. And it's got last round bolt hold open, and lifetime warrantee. Why yes, I am a cheap fugger.
  2. I'd like to help her with some "steam cleaning".
  3. Nice to meet you today, thanks for an awesome rifle and an easy transaction. The only downside was the ride down from Sussex County.
  4. I too joined the dark side. Picked up my N-PAP M70 this morning from JT Guns. It's already a double stack so no mods needed. Can't wait for the weather to warm up a bit to try it out.
  5. If it has a large "S" on the left side of the receiver, almost resembling a number 5, it was made by Savage. Check the king screw, the screw right in front of the magazine well. I've been told the rifle should be stored with it loose a thread or two to allow the would to expand and contract. I've taken mine to the range and wondered why I couldn't hit anything, only to find it loose when I got home. Surplus ammo can still be found from time to time, but lots of folks don't like that cordite burns very hot, and may burn up barrels prematurely. Probably only a real issue if you're blasting hundreds of rounds away in short order. Prvi Partisan makes affordable .303 ammo that's not too bad and I'm told is nice brass for reloading. Of course we'll need pics, and enjoy your new rifle. USNMars and Nickjc know far more than I do about these, for more info, hit them up. And here's a video of "The Mad Minute." http://youtu.be/kp0KGpBFG60
  6. Skulls and flames, will accessorize well with a Hardly Davidson. In all seriousness, for an accurate assessment of these products I'll need to see detailed photos of the blond in the sixth photo.
  7. I posted the bread and milk video yesterday.
  8. Thanks. I don't think I'll put a bipod on although there is a small rail on the bottom of the hand guard. I've never been able to get anything approaching a decent group while using one.
  9. Roll pins works well. I think I got them from Sears Hardware. I don't think that Home Depot near me had them.
  10. Yep, I'm not suggesting to not be prepared, but the panic that's fed by the media and how people eat it up is comical. The rest of the country in the snow belt laughs at us I think. I live in Sussex County, it doesn't get much more rural than here (for NJ anyway) and getting out has never been an issue. The sure-footed traction of Subaru Symmetrical All Wheel Drive helps, too. (SPAM)
  11. Finished, Coyotes beware. New barrel Rock River brake, disregard the dog hair please.
  12. I just noticed that this thread got bumped. Just an update on the build, I wasn't at all impressed with the accuracy of the rifle with the barrel from Palmetto. I got the last stainless heavy fluted 18" barrel from Midwest and installed it on the upper, along with a Rock River brake. I've only had it out once so far to zero the scope, but so far looks much better. From 6 inches or more at 100 yards to probably more like 2 inches. When i find the right ammo, take my time and concentrate, it should be even better. One other issue, it may be over gassed. When I was shooting to zero the scope, a lot of the brass was landing in front of me, rather than to the side or behind me like usual. It's got a rifle buffer, I might have to place an order with Heavybuffer.com. One last thing, I added a Nikon 4-12x P223 scope in place of the Chinese gun show special.
  13. The Sino-Soviet SKS were essentially Russian, just made in a Chinese factory. The Chinese SKS gets a bad rap, but the ones that I have are just as well made as the Russian I have. The later ones with the stamped receivers and pinned barrels are not of the same quality, but I've read claims of them being good shooters.

  15. I've heard that about the LC9 trigger, I would definitely try it first. But after handling the Shield in 9mm, I will probably go that route. I'll try that one out first, too. Also, to update my above list, I've decided on the following: Ruger GP100 Ruger SR1911 Most likely a S&W Shield Possibly the Nickel RIA 1911 That leaves one permit left. It will probably be between the Beretta 92,CZ 75, or a High Power if I can find one.
  16. I didn't want to start a whole new thread just to say, "I want one of these." Rock Island is one of the best deals out there by all accounts. Nickel plated. FTW.
  17. It is an adjustable stock, not a collapsible stock. I have one and I like it. If you decide to get one, get it from Midwest PX.
  18. I dropped off application for 5 permits yesterday, NJSP Augusta barracks. I was very surprised, I've heard horror stories of playing phone tag, weeks if not months just to get an appointment to pick up the forms, and then more of the same to drop off the forms. I got the Sergeant who handles the firearms paperwork on the first call, he was very accommodating of my schedule, and a very pleasant person to deal with. When I dropped off my application, again, very nice to deal with. The Captain or Lieutenant of the barracks introduced himself, saying that I looked familiar to him. *Gulp* My mind began racing through all the childish indiscretions of my youth. It turns out that we live in the same town and he had seen me in passing at town functions. The conversation turned to what I would be purchasing. When I mentioned that I would be adding another 1911 to the collection, both of their eyes lit up and expressed their fondness for the pistol. Several more minutes of pleasantries and I was on my way. All in all, for what it was, not a bad experience. The down side was that I had to go there at all and I was about a half hour late to work. Fortunately I have a flexible boss. But the two troopers I met with made the best of the situation.
  19. I see Scranton mentioned, don't forget the Dunder Mifflin Tour.
  20. Pipe down, not so loud, that's supposed to be a secret! LOL
  21. I hear that Camden is lovely this time of year. Camden, Maine that is.
