  1. Actually, it is very useful. It is useful to those that want to argue that "wealth" needs to be distributed for our economic system to be "fair". Thank God their are incredibly wealthy people. They are the ones that invest in companies, hire workers and use their wealth for greater purposes. I suppose if they are smart enough to earn it, they certainly are smart enough to use/invest/spend it well...and make even more. Go wealthy people, go.
  2. I've never found good BBQ in NJ. Lets face it, BBQ is a 12-16 affair. If a restaurant really wants to serve proper BBQ they have to get into gear at about 10PM to be ready for lunch the next day...and then keep it going all night to have something for the dinner crowd. Someone has to be there to keep the smoker going. It's not in the north-eat culture to work all night for BBQ. BTW, Hard 8 in the DFW area is about the best you'll ever find on planet earth.
  3. Been there, Done that (or this)... 1) Disassemble the mag. 2) Get a 1/4 thick piece of UHMW plastic. 3) Make a spacer by shaping the UHMW plastic to the shape of the bottom surface of the follower 4) Dry fit and load magazine. Make any necessary changes 5) Epoxy spacer to bottom of follower 6) Reassemble
  4. Yes, rifles can be purchased and brought home out of state. Because of our permit system, handguns purchased out of state have to be shipped to a NJ FFL where a NICS will be performed.
  5. I have both. They are very similar guns. The CZ fits my hand a little better but I'm amazed how similar they shoot and feel.
  6. $599. I found through gunbroker.com via a heads up from a post in these forums. It was a BIN. Shipping was a reasonable $20. I missed a about 6 auctions with BIN prices between $550-$600 in the days before. So they are out there.
  7. I just picked up a PPQ M2. In addition to what Maksim said above, it's worth noting that the PPQ differs from many other striker-fired models in that when the round is chambered the striker is fully cocked (SA), verses semi-cocked for many other similar type pistols (DAO). This is one of the reasons for the unusually light trigger. You are correct that the P30 and the PPQ feel similar in the hand. Being a hammer fired pistol the P30 can be carried hammer down allowing for a DA first shot. The PPQ has an inter-lock on the trigger (like a Glock) that also allows it to be safely carried without fear of inadvertent discharge. I think in a carry-draw situation the SA trigger will be faster and possibility (depending on training) more accurate. The guns feel similar enough that it comes down to a preference to a hammer fired or striker fired weapon. By the way, I didn't pay anywhere near full list (which is $699) for my PPQ. I've seen PPQ's on gunbroker.com in the $550-$600 range.

    NJ NICS

Well Nick, you and the rest of the FFL's in this state talk to NICS on a daily basis. Us common unwashed folk have no access to them. I would suggest that you talk to whomever you can and tell them to find a way to fix this situation. Because in the end, it will cost you business.
  9. Tim's a good guy. I hope his new channel takes off. We could use just a little common sense.
  10. Two months ago I waited 2 days. Last month I waited 4 days. This month I waited 10 days. If you're buying a handgun you'll have to put up with NJ NICS (Not Instant Check System). If you're buying a rifle, do yourself a favor and travel to PA. PICS is still a "while you wait" deal.

    NJ NICS

UPDATE: Just got the call. Eight days. Screw NJ NICS. My next rifle purchases will all be in PA.
  12. Wow, what a bargin. I tell you what, I'll remember who was helpful and who wasn't during this manufactured crises. I haven't paid panic prices for guns or ammo these last months, but there are fewer places I can go that I trust now. Those places that stuck by their customers deserve my lifetime business. $2,200 for a Stag Arms AR...give me a friggin' break. I paid $800 for mine last year. Stag Arms hasn't raised their price.
  13. Thanks for the heads up. While not the greatest deal, I'm very tired of going to local stores to find no stock or restricted stock. Whenever I find ammo on line for $0.30 or less, I buy.
  14. Hey to my fellow countymen.

    NJ NICS

I've been waiting for a week for a handgun NICS. Why pass a law requiring a waiting period when you can just throw an anchor out?
  16. Do you have data that supports this? This sounds like a made-up fact.
  17. I have three boys (now one adult and two teens) and have met a lot of parents along the way. One thing that always amazes me is how much I have in common with my kids friends. Many of their dads are now my and my wife's friends. Some I even go to the range with. You want your kids to choose friends that share yours (and their) values. However, as a parent, you are obligated to ensure that your house is safe. Don't leave anything to chance. Put the gun related stuff away when the kids are over. If you have a room that you like to reload in or keep stuff in, put a lock on the door. If you are worried about animal trophies, you'll find that they'll start more conversations then anything.
  18. Strange, my SR-22 eats everything I feed it.
  19. I can not sing enough praise for the SR-22. It's just fun. As for finding one, I suggest using the quote feature.
  20. Our country is managed by as$ hats. If we keep on voting morons into office we get the government we deserve. Let morons teach our kids and don't act surprised in 20 years when everyone you meet is an imbecile. We suck. Look in the mirror...it's all of our fault. We've put stupid people in charge of important aspects of our lives.
  21. He's a great spokesperson for the NRA and for us as well. This is very good news.
  22. I thought that the FFL retained all records, not the state. When asked the FFL is obligated to produce these records.
  23. I've got to tell you, the 10/22 is a FUN rifle. It's inexpensive to operate, it's dead-on accurate, and there are endless options for customization in the after market. Take some advice from on old-timer; Own a few rifles (including your first) just because they are fun to shoot because you'll get a lot more enjoyment from those rifles. A fun rifle is one that gets fired often. The Zombie Apocalypse rifle will be put away and seldom used. And there is a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance it will be used for it's intended purpose, where a fun gun is used thousands of times for its intended purpose.
  24. I've owned a Win 1894 .30-30 since I was 13 (1975). It was my first center fire rifle and still one of my favorites.
  25. No problem, they shipped. I assumed that that was a "standard" disclaimer for them. When I called this morning they said "no problem" with a NJ compliant gun.
